Someone said to me last week that he suspects Randy has gone bonkers.

That reference to the Shunammite makes me wonder .....

The worst scenario for any form of business is uncertainty, existing players need to know where they stand, potential new signings need to know who are they playing for etc...... We are now in a state of limbo that will kill us if we get beyond June.

I'm hoping that this is no more than a holding statement & things are in progress.

At the absolute least, he's got to invest the usual 20 or so mill in the squad this summer. I would also hope that if things get to a point where they're dragging on, he'll look for a new manager himself. He's got to have at least enough sense to know that if we're not sold in a years time and have had another season of Lambert drek, he could well have the very difficult task of selling us as a Championship club.

If the club is almost sold I don't understand the point of this statement.

There's a touch of the Tom Cruise about his statement. I can imagine him laughing a lot, slapping his thigh and occasionally jumping on his couch.

I don't have any ill will towards Randy Lerner. He seems like a good guy and i'm sure he's gutted this didn't work out. He tried. He failed. I fuck up at work all the time but at least it doesn't cost me loads of money.

Hope we manage to sell quickly though otherwise there could be a mass suicide over on TBAR.

why would Randy invest any more than paying salaries/wages? To me the last thing he will do is to give Lambert a transfer budget un less its added onto the price a prospective new owner pays?

If there is not a deal in place, then that is really the worst outcome, it would just be the announcement of a summer of drift, something u fear will kill us off.

I now actually feel sorry for Lambert.

I think we're absolutely stuffed now.

He's ultimately been naive to think that a club can be run with so little investment, but he gave it a go for a while...
TBF, he's pumped in £250m -ish and written a fair amount of it off.
What screwed him was the early blind and total faith in MON and the game-changing takeover of Citeh.

His naivety wasn't in the investment projections; it was in entrusting MON early on; IMO.

Well that and having to fork out 30m later when Houllier dragged us head first into a relegation scrap. Good money after bad.

The less said about decisions made thereafter the better. Bad money after bad money - the odd Benteke glimemr aside.

Well, it wouldn't be Villa without doing things the hard way. If, as Pat Murphy states, the process begins today, then we'll have more uncertainty this summer. Something we didn't need. What happens with Lambert? Do we start looking at players of the same ilk, or Premier League quality players? What if no buyer materialises? What an ungodly mess.

On the subject of Randy Lerner's health, in all seriousness, it would not surprise me at all if depression were playing a part in all this. I sincerely hope this isn't the case, and if it is he has my best wishes for a recovery. Mental health issues aside, he knows now he's not cut out to run a football club, and the sooner he can step aside and rid himself, and us, of all this stress the better.

It reads like a heartfelt goodbye to me. But, whatever. If it makes you feel better to joke about him being mental, go for it. It does make you sound a bit like the dumped one in a relationship.

It's certainly the worst possible news for this summer though.

Absolutely pathetic. Tell us something we don't know. Every club in the world is technically up for fecking sale. I think we're well aware that Randy has been getting us ready for sale for the last 4 years. What bloody difference would it have made to him to just come out and say it last month, rather than tease the fans?

To be honest after today, and the game yesterday and the shite that's come from them, I've lost any good will I might have had for Lerner and Lambert. They shouldn't be treating us like we're morons. The pair of them can pack up and fuck off as far as I'm concern. What's happened to us in the last 3 years in particular, has been shambolic and the lack of ambition has been terrifying.
It's okay though because we've obviously done exceptionally well this season.

Why have we been treated like morons? He said that he would announce things at the end of the season and that's exactly what he has done.
But he hasn't really announced anything. Would it have affected the team that much to say we were up for sale last month? That part was glaringly obvious. He's left many, for the last month, expecting something of a more solid piece of news. It's like a 10 year olds idea of a practical joke.

It's just yet another public relations howler from the club. Between that and Lambert bigging himself up yesterday, I can't be arsed with the pair of them anymore.

It's not Randy's fault if people on the likes of Twitter and other forums took it upon themselves to spread false hope of being taken over by a billionaire the day after the season has ended. He wanted to get the season out of the way and he's stuck to his word.

Agreed. Drones of people on here love reacting like pathetic drama queens and it's so frustrating to read.
