Lerner - like Doug Ellis - has done some good for us and some bad.  If and when he does go, his good legacies will be:

Continuing to fund the club academy

Bringing Ron Saunders and the 82 squad back into the fold and repairing the damage done to the relationship between them and the club which Ellis had managed through his jealously and ego.

Restoring the Holte Hotel, even though he was warned it wasn't viable financially.

And perhaps most touchingly, the link with Acorns, which has helped them do some much for many children in the area.

However, his bad legacies will be:

Allowing O'Neill to throw his money around without questioning him.

His poor record of appointing managers

Numerous bad football decisions.

His mismanagement of hi and the clubs finances.

You mean like the owner we had four years ago? You weren't telling him to fuck off and saying he'd given us fuck all then were you ?

4 years of rubbish decisions, football, entertainment, results, players and managers has eroded the goodwill he had. What will his legacy be when he leaves this club? A finished training ground and a refurbed pub. He had a simpletons attempt at breaking the top 4 when he took over, employ a manager with a good profile and throw cash at it, barely anything was done to build anything lasting.

Again, were you moaning when O'Neill was here?

Yes. When things go wrong, I moan. When things go right, I cheer. When things go wrong 4 years continually I moan a lot and expect the man at the top to take the responsibility for it.

I wasn't aware of anyone else being blamed. Do you also really expect him to walk away and lose however many millions?

Surely that's business? It's Shit but it happens, if he does sell then I'm sure he'll get a lot more than he paid

He'll maybe sell for more than he paid but then there's the rest of the money he invested.

But again isn't that what he expected? It's not cheap to run a football club, everyone knows that

It's the double standards that I object to. He's expected to stick his hand in his pocket without limit, then walk away when he no longer can, hand over to someone else who'll have to do the same and all the time it's "our" club.

No fair point. He has done great thing's for the club. I think we can mainly agree though that now is the time to move on

Probably, although I'd love to see him get that 2006 feeling again.

Am I the only one one who wants the shirt sponsorship back - we get about £4m to have some dodgy betting company on our shirts, which is about two years of one squad player's wages, or we can be an essential part of the advertising for a fantastic local charity. My proudest moment as a Villa fan was the day they announced that we were going to have Acorns on our shirts

The last decent kit we had too, in terms of look and design.
Anytime we've had a betting company logo on our shirts it's looked pretty fugly.

Acorns was nice but my proudest moment was seeing us win the European Cup. We're a football club not a charity. We should remember that.

And you're happy with said double standards?

But that's just it though: he quite obviously didn't.
