It will be such a let down if the statement is.....
You've all done very well, now carry on (said in the style of young Mr Grace for those old enough to remember tv sitcom)

I am very much expecting news of a change of ownership by this time next week.

Has he said when this announcement will be made or did he just say 'at the end of the season'?  Rumours that Ellison is looking into buying the LA Clippers, would probably rule him out of the race if true.

Although to counter that the fact that Randy has said he is making a statement at the end of the season is in itself significant and largely unprecedented. So I'd suggest that implies that it must be reasonably big news whatever it is.

What if it's just.....'We go again' ?

The way I see it is we got Randy, Liverpool got Gillette and Hicks.  If our new owner operates in the same way as FSG then we're starting from a better position than Liverpool were.

So in about 2018 we will blow the league at Selhurst Park then?

It tells me that he knows the square root of feck all about the new owner just like the rest of us.

Assuming fuck all to be non zero (no point in it having a square root otherwise) and less than 1 (it wouldn't be fuck all if it were 1 or greater), then the square root of fuck all is actually a bigger number than fuck all itself.

I just thought I would point this out.

Or it was just a way to quieten down all the feverish speculation and get everyone to focus on the job in hand.

Maybe it is actually personal news? Maybe he's going to come out or something? Or maybe he's got a new kitten?

Matt Kendrick's take on Randy's upcoming statement.
http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-what-randy-lerner-7075533

A good article that.  It's written as if he knows thge identity of the new owner.
It's also good to be reminded of the many good things that Randy has done.  Too easily forgotten.

If Kendrick knew we were being taken over and also had the identity of the new owner, then he would be cashing in on the biggest story of his career.

Not if he was told by the club on the basis that it's kept secret until officially announced.
What would be the point of telling him then? Presumably the only reason you would tell a journalist something is if you wanted him to write about it.

And if you wanted something to be kept absolute secret then you just wouldn't tell them.

It just reads to me like a journalist writing an article about what his readership wants to read about.

What have you heard paulie? That would be pretty amazing news if true, it would make sense keeping it quiet if it's a surprise for somebody.

Why would you assume "fuck all" was non-zero when it is a well known synonym for zero?

Fuck all = zero, so the square root of fuck all is also zero as 0 x 0 = 0.

I always thought it was less than zero.
