How many times have we had mysterious buyers just waiting to instil Klinsmann or someone of his ilk as manager?

I'm pretty sure Klinsmann was linked pre-MON too. From what I see and read he seems to enjoy the California air and lifestyle in the US. Plus aside from his name as a player, I don't know what he's capable of as a club manager. That and a lot of the achievements of that WC run for Germany have been credited to Low's tactical nous moreso than Klinsmann.

He has indeed showed no desire to swap the sunny climes of SoCal for admittedly drizzlier B6.

I also agree completely on the latter point. He likes all the right things - passing football, bringing through young players - and was a brilliant figurehead for the home World Cup, but actual tactical implementation was really Loew's area, and he's continued to show this. Not that Klinsmann's necessarily useless, but he's not as good as Loew.

I disagree in so much as what Klinnsmann did well was have the right attitude to the game and the players he wanted to work with and then know that he needed help to make the best of that vision.

I have no problem with a manager having weak points, so long as they address them by appointing complimentary people.
Too many managers are too stubburn for my liking and see seeking help, or doing things differently as a weakness.

I have to say, if his big announcement is that he is instructing such-and-such a firm of consultants to seek investors, I will be massively underwhelmed

That is exactly what it will be. Pelty may have been told Randy is wanting to sell fom his dad, but I fail to see why he would have intimate knowledge of an two hundred pound acquisition or why he would share it with a random on the internet.

Well of course. If Klinsmann were proffered as the potential manager then obviously I'd bloody take him - not just over the current incompetent, but over many of the terrible alternatives currently floating around in ominous unemployment.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that will be true of whoever our next manager is. Not ITK, just a hunch.

I'd be happy with an American consortium. We could all chant "U-S-A! U-S-A!". An Arab investor would also be okay as we could shout "U-A-E!" at him and, at a push, I'd be willing to put up with a Saudi Chairman so we could holler "K-S-A!" for "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".

I would be fundamentally against a Russian bidder as Russia can't be handily-abbreviated into a three-letter salvo. A magnate from the Central African Republic would be ok though.

We could also get taken over by the London School of Economics.

My point really was that he got it very right with Germany at a point where they had been badly embarrassed in the euros and despite being the hosts had largely been written off for the world cup, he brought in a lot of youngsters and got a really good coaching team in place.  That Loew is an excellent tactician isn't in doubt but Klinsmann in a team manager/director level role (which is how we treat the manager in the current setup) with a technical coach below him would be perfect, and would have been all along.

That is true, actually. And it would be wrong to portray him as some sort of footballing simpleton - he's Jurgen Klinsmann, for God's sake. If he had the right team he'd be a terrific manager.

I've heard that some of the rumours have lost a something in translation and that we are actually being taken over by Ku Klux Klansmen.

That would be handy. Their outfits would double up as bedsheets to be used when we wanted to start protesting against them.

My preferred bidder is the African Car Reverser.
