I would be delighted to be like Man City. Big investment, extremely respectful owners who have put a lot of money in the clubs foundations.

Who wouldn't like the type of players and success enjoyed by Man City over the last few years? You'd be barmy not to want that.

Like others have said I'd shake his hand if I had chance, he picked us up when we were down and gave it a go. Last few years though we've gone from one catastrophe to another. I think it's definitely time for change before we do get relegated. You can only bank on 3 worse teams for so long

To a point yes.
The other extreme is arsenal and their ticket prices , what was it £160 for a standard seat v Bayern ?
What price "success" ??

But he thought he knew better than SGT and Steve Stride. Big heart, big chequebook, no football brain anywhere at board level.

Spot on.

Aftab, - no you wouldn't. The Club, it's history and what it stands for as well as it's significance -is too important to you.
Peter you are correct that I wouldn't. Spent too much of my life knocking glory hunters for six to give up now. It was just an illustration of how stifling the current situation is!

The players and success are one thing, but it's the way the City owners have gone about it is probably more impressive. Their 'football campus' they are building next to the ground is incredible and will stand City in good stead for a long time, whether the current owners are there or not. At Chelsea, you get the feeling that if Abramovich pulled out, they would soon return to the lower mid table position in the natural order of things.

I have to grudgingly give Abramovich credit, I thought he'd have pissed off by now. But he still seems to like giving the chavs endless amounts of cash for no reason.

I'm confident that Lerner will look after the clubs interests, whatever the outcome. In truth he bought the club a year or two too late, naively invested a lot of money & trust in MON. Combine this with Man City gazumping everyone, a global financial crisis, changing personal circumstances & some shocking decisions we are now back where we were in 2006.

I think he'd rather sell completely than get outside investment, but one thing is obvious, he wants to part ways as badly as we do & as badly as the club needs it. I just hope there's genuinely someone out there.

In the event that it happens, I think we'll all be a little bit more realistic than we were in 2006.

Indeed.

I am 45, it could quite easily be a choice between year after year of watching shit players win next to fuck all for another three decades and then dying, or watching some brilliant players playing CL football year in, year out, and winning some stuff. And then dying.

If it comes down to that, I will choose the brilliant players and the excitement every single time.

If some of you fancy the Dave Spart route of sticking with what we have now, good luck to you, you can do that when I'm dead.

I'd love to see the best players playing for Villa and us winning stuff.

Forget about the Chelskis and the  Citehs and their out of reach methods, I would just be happy with three simple things (from any potential new owners);

1. Some form of stability within the club in terms of playing staff, management, board and chairman.

2. To regain some dignity in terms of our home stadium, turn Villa Park into a fortress again, get some sort of atmosphere going every week and not lose ten games a season there!

3. Have a plan. Not some contrived nonsense that Lerner had to buy into as part of MONs appointment by Doug. A plan that is financially sound and a plan that is both realistic and achievable.

Not exactly the stuff of dreams, but after the last few years, I'd take it in a heartbeat!

I didn't think he'd bought somewhere in the end.
