If he is selling, I would expect that Lerner will sell to someone who he believes will have the best intentions for club.
As much as we might feel let down by him over the last couple of years, I think he has the club at heart and will not just 'cut and run' just to make a buck.

I agree and he'll have made that clear. To me he made financial errors that will likely cost him in the end, but the outcome of selling will be better than carrying on with this at a loss. But he'll insist on a good owner to possibly do what he couldn't.

I'd rather have a Lerner than some attention seeking chairman or some corrupt billionaire from wherever. Ideally he will bring on board backing and stay at the helm.

To be honest after the purgatory of the last 4 years I couldn't give a toss if the next owners are a consortium consisting of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot if it results in success.
Really? The absolute last thing I want to happen is for some front company of a Colombian drug cartel rocking up at Villa Park and making the new managerial appointment of Harry fucking Redknapp as their first order of business!

With Paulo Di Canio groomed as his successor

While Changing the name of the club to Aston Mosanto Red Bull Villains who play in Coventry. Stewards to be replaced by automated drones.

I still think he's after partners rather than an outright sale.

He may well want to sell to someone with good intentions. He seems like a good-intentioned person himself.

Given his track record of appointing managers/chief executives, the kind of person he wants and the kind of person he gets might look completely different.

I am in the USA. He should sell to me.

First off I will "do a Glazers" and get some debt to buy the club off Randy. That debt I will then place on the club, naturally.

Then I will treat the club as the big club it truly is, steeped in tradition!

1.) Double ticket prices (obviously a club of this stature cannot be insulting fans by such cheap tickets).
2.) Promote REAL Villa men to run the club. Cowans, Withe. Whoever. Been around a while and (most importantly) will not cost as much as a premier league manager.
3.) Get rid of those players who do not have Villa in their heart! This means essentially selling all of the first team for as much money as possible. Benteke, Guzan, Vlaar should fetch a pretty penny.
4.) Play REAL Villa players! Who better to play for the club than those who have lived and breathed it since childhood?!!! Thats right I will be playing the kids. All of them.

With this plan I strongly believe I can make a few quid off the Villa. Even when we inevitably get relegated those parachute payments should see me sitting with a nice tidy profit. run the club in a manner which befits our great club and really puts our tradition back in the team!

Lerner to prospective buyer - "how much are you offering?"
Buyer "£250million Randy"
Randy " Fine, will that be in cash or via an electronic transfer?"
Buyer " what ever suits you Randy"
Randy " Brilliant - lets shake on it - oh before we do - you will look after the club for me? - I`ve kinda got a soft spot for the place."
Buyer " Yeah, whatever Randy - we can always renovate one of those quaint little bars they have - what do they call em ? ...pubs thats it, right?"
Randy " Try refreshing the club emblem - that goes down well as does some free scarves with something like - "Proud History, Blighted Future"  featured on it"
Buyer " Will do Randy - can`t wait to meet this Head Coach - Paul Whatsisname- Do they provide a translator?"

Ah, but, are you Texan? If so,
You would go down a storm on certain fan websites I have read over the last week.

I would prefer Randy to stay, tbh!
(Maybe go into partnership if that's what it takes)
I just think he has the right attitude if not the funds by himself.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is all concluded by the end of May.
Can't see Lambert being here regardless of what happens. May explain the squad/team/staff discontent. People not knowing their futures due to the takeover etc

If Hitler took over the first few years would see great success which proved to be built on no foundations at all and be followed by spectacular collapse. A bit like the last 8 years really.

He would be sitting in the Holte Suite with all the doors locked five hours after the final whistle, demanding that John Gidman be ordered to score a goal

No. But I do drive by Larry Ellisons office every day!

I agree with you. I like Randy. My hope is he may be bringing in a new investor and/or freeing some some big money this summer.

Have to respect the guy is taking the flack of Lambert by stating he is only working to parameters he has set and he hasn't had enough players.Randy seems a decent guy which makes it all the worse than it just hasn't worked out.

That is where I am as well RE. I will accept White Supremacist from  Louisiana branch of KKK providing he gives us £300M to spend on players. I am fed up of us being insignificant.

Aftab, - no you wouldn't. The Club, it's history and what it stands for as well as it's significance -is too important to you.
