I can't remember a worse Villa team than that and the bench is a joke.

Always thought Bennett was better in this sort of role anyway.

Not convinced he's good enough going forward to be a winger, or good enough defensively to be a full back.  Not sure what he is.

looks at the line up. Gulps and hides under the covers.

I suppose Fulham need to come at us, so Bennett and Marco might provide some breaking speed on the counter. We must be the most cursed team with injuries.

Pretty damning assessment. Since he's better going forward I'd say he's a winger, but it might be a Championship-level sort of winger.

That team and bench is pretty appalling to be honest, have we no decent reserves?

I bloody knew he'd go with Weimann and Holt. Easy afternoon for Hangeland - get above Holt, no threat.

Looks like a straight 4-4-2 to me. Or possibly a 4-2-3-1, but that would see Bennett or Bertrand as attacking wingers. Not entirely convinced either could do that.

The least convincing part of that side for me though is Holt. He'll be dead on his feet after 20 minutes probably. I'd actually have played Bowery ahead of him because the lad hasn't yet had a chance through the middle, and he'd also be more mobile. Because refs are a bit stricter in the last couple of seasons against front men backing in etc, or what you might call gamesmanship, I don't think players like Holt will be half as effective. They'll give away twice as many fouls as they receive in their favour.

Disappointed not to see Helenius given a chance, or Tonev, who looked fresh and lively.

We shall see. All I'll say for Holt though is, that give him a chance in the box and you'd fancy him to put it away, where-as you'd feel that Bowery for example, might be cursed to never hit the proverbial barn door at this level.

Weimann should have been dropped too. He's run out of steam, and that's before you even consider the issue of his form.
