He was in the first Villa team I could properly name from 1-11 (still can - better than I could tell you who played for us last week!) so this feels very sad news.

Also - a strange thought - the third left back from around this era to pass away at such a young age.

RIP Gordon.

Met him in the Holte hotel this season had a good chat about the Villa and his hand in the 77 cup final at old Trafford. He was very nice.  RIP Gordon
