We just don't have any really foundations to how we play. When we play well it all seems precarious, based on instinct and timing and touch and the players having confidence, not all of which have nothing to do with Lambert. However, when things go wrong it all flails and falls apart, and the players get the ball with no idea what might be done with it. That is Lambert's fault.

You also get what you pay for by and large. You pay circa £2-3 million for players, this is what you get and, even more depressingly, why they are the only sorts of players we seem to attract these days

We have a lot of specialists, eg Sylla a specialist holding/destroyer, Albrighton a specialist winger. They are not only hopeless at everything else, they are hopeless at what they are in the team for.

And that's 4.

4-1 well done Villa, 9 of these players don't deserve to be paid today. Bacuna has been almost as bad as Baker today.

Not once has Lambert stood up in the dugout today, it's like he knew this would happen

Another thrashing from a essentially crap opponent.

Have a good week everyone.

I've not really seen a lot in the last two seasons to make me think Lambert knows his stuff tactically, to put it mildly

I think he's tactically inconsistent as the players are inconsistent. I thought he nailed it last week, and seemed to have this week. He's also played a number of complete 'mares.

Terrible defending for all 4 goals. Get Lowton and Clark in at Old Trafford. 1-4 at home to fucking Stoke City. No wonder the stadium was empty after 80 mins.

The thing is that it's just not the case that when the team wins it's down to the players and when they lose it's the fault of the manager. However, it's somehow less forgivable when you pull off as good a result as the Chelsea one and fold like this against Stoke than had you simply lost every game. I think Lambert is almost willfully getting this wrong.

Right, that's enough for me. Thanks for last week Villa, but I've better things to do. I expect a reaction next time out.
