When I watch us these days and football more generally - witness yesterday's soulless FA Cup games - it makes me weep for how it all used to be and what made me fall in love with football in the first place. Us, a swashbuckling, exciting team going places, with real proper 'Villa type' players, great commentators, grounds with big attendances, character and atmosphere, no knobs doing half-time analysis or tossers phoning into 606 et al saying how so and so should be sacked, teams who could win things and compete at the top end of the league because they could hold on to their big name players and benefit from skilful managers rather than just piles of foreign money, referees whose names you didn't even know, no endless replays of borderline decisions, no knobs doing full-time analysis, my team playing in their proper colours. I could go on....It's all just unmitigated shit these days
I really enjoyed watching that team, first season back in Div1, always positive and looking to score, although I have to admit, I'd wiped Pimblett from my memory bank until I read this thread. How we could do with an Ian Ross now.
