Stupid ginger grizzly bear!

Quote

The England and Wales Cricket Board’s Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) today confirmed that the Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale has received an automatic suspension under the ECB’s Directives.

During Yorkshire’s LV= County Championship match against Lancashire on August 31 – September 3, 2014, Gale was reported by umpires Steve Garrett and Steve O’Shaughnessy for a Level Two breach of the directives: using language or gesture that is obscene or of a serious insulting nature to another player, umpire, referee, team official or spectator.

Gale had previously received six penalty points following a Level Two breach in May 2014. The penalty for a subsequent breach at Level Two within 24 months is six penalty points. Gale has therefore received a total of twelve penalty points, triggering an automatic suspension.

He will be suspended from all cricket under the jurisdiction of the ECB until and including Friday, September 27, 2014 – a period which covers Yorkshire’s next two First XI fixtures.

These penalty points will remain on his record for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine, 18 or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.

The Cricket Discipline Commission will also consider whether any further action needs to be taken in relation to the Yorkshire captain.

That's a shame, I like Gale he's done really well as captain although he's not been in great form with the bat recently, there's where Ballance or Root can come in if released to play.

Does anyone know what happened to Lancs skipper Paul Horton after his reaction to bring giving out in the T20 final?

I quite like the comment on the Yorkshire Facebook page asking when it became an offence to abuse any Lancastrian? Evidently Anderson got away with rather a lot of abuse of Lyth earlier in the season but maybe with him being needed for England the ECB weren't so keen to act then. Kevin Howells of 5 Live said he has seen far worse this season and felt Gale was unlucky, hopefully this defeat will help send them down!

Thats a good question....i suspect nothing has happened. That surely would have been reported.

Going to Edgbaston tomorrow.  Should be a good game, hopefully resulting in another trip to Lords for the Bears!

It should have been, the worst reaction I've ever seen to a dismissal.

Not that I think there is a conspiracy but the umpires at Old Trafford were from Nottingham and an ex Lancashire player.

The commentators on air at the time (think it was Lloyd and Hussain) both said that you just can't do that.

Apparently Horton received a "Level 2 breach" and (according to the Manchester Evening News) will receive a three point penalty.  If you collect nine points over two years you get a ban (presumably what Gale has got).  (The Evening News also went on to explain how Manchester invented the game of cricket and the number three).

Cheers, if that was an international match he'd of got a straight ban I'd imagine.
