Chopra should take some blame here bowling an inexperienced bowler in penultimate over, OHD bowling the last....no Clarke again.

Why oh why didn't Clarke bowl the penultimate over? You need your experienced bowlers at the end.

Despite the defeat and the unfavourable draw it is likely to bring, it was good to see Trotty back in form.  Considering the bowling attack is missing, Wright, Barker, Rankin and Woakes, we're still in contention on three fronts.

He can blow hot and cold RedSox.
A great game, but we will rue an away tie I think. Chops should have bowled Clarke.

I had £20 at 4/5 with 18 balls remaining and thought I was in the money - not happy!

It was an entertaining game of cricket.

When we had Trott and Ambrose building a partnership of 170 + for the third wicket I thought we were on for a score of around 350. They were both out at just the wrong time which was unfortunate. When Hales & Taylor were doing the same I thought the game had gone.

We fielded a very inexperienced attack and whilst it was frustrating to lose I do like the policy of giving the likes of OHD, Jones and Gordon experience in such tight situations and backing them. It bodes well for the future.

The stand that Hales and Taylor built meant that Chopra had to bowl Patel earlier than he would have liked so he was through his allocation before the death. That we clawed our way back into the game was a great performance from an inexperienced attack and it was only a moment of madness under pressure from Gordon that cost us.

The test matches against India have finished ,so can anyone explain  to me how Bell and Woakes who have been picked for the one day squad are not available for the Notts game, but Hales and Gurney who are also in the squad  are available for Notts

I would think that it's to give Bell and Woakes some rest after the end of the test series and before the start of the ODI series. Hales and Gurney were not in the test squad so therefore available to play for Notts last night. At least they can play on Saturday!

Hales and Gurney didn't play in the Tests, so I assume it's to rest Bell and Woakes.

I agree wholly with central contracts because it is good for England, but it is to the detriment of the Counties who have bought the players through the system to International level.
Imagine the FA trying it!

I think some of the counties are hit particularly hard by the international selectors but when the players are in the test side I guess there can't be too many complaints. It's situations like Bairstow last summer, where he didn't play for England but also barely got chance to play for his county either, that are the real problem and I can't imagine Yorkshire were too happy with that.
