Wish I could be this happy at the end of a Villa match

Good win for the Bears! Dare I say we could feature in finals day at our Edgbaston home?......

Not a fan of the quick cricket but really enjoyed the Yorkshire v Lancashire match, the Lancashire captain seems to have taken the 6 point penalty badly. Shame.

Thought it was a bit harsh, but a great game. Having Finch in your side is close to cheating though ;-!

Makes up for losing Root, Ballance, Plunkett and Williamson! He can't half hit a ball.

I think the 6 run penalty was fair enough really. There's no valid excuse for bowling your overs slowly.

However, If I was a cynic, then i'd say that all that stuff with Bresnan's helmet was clearly time wasting in order to ensure Lancashire were penalized.

Interesting article about rebranding both the Bears and the T20 as a whole.

Enjoyed the game last night. Took my daughter to her first game, got her a mention over the tannoy. It's the first time I have seen the new pavilion live. I'm afraid to say I am not a fan at all. What was the general consensus amongst members when it was first erected?

Shoaib Malik looks as if he could be a great signing, he looked so easy at the crease and it was good to see Chopra in the runs. I also like the look of Laurie Evans.

What on earth was that with tennis players at the interval? I understand the cross promotion and interval entertainment but that was poor.

I am with you in regard the new pavilion, i don't like it, i loved the old members area plenty of space inside and great viewing areas, in the new members suite hardly any room which when
weather not so great can't swing a cat in there, and more importantly, well it's important to me - it doesn't get the sun...i tend to sit at the City End(can't call it Birmingham end).
Warwickshire have sold their soul to the corporate devil....there is an obvious need for this but been taken too far.
There is no staff there anymore....you buy tickets through Ticketmaster....for fcuks sake what is that all about......my wife worked in that ticket office for a few years but managed to get out before being kicked out!!!!!
In a way it is just like the Villa i have been a member at WCCC since early 70's same as my ST at Villa Park but at least currently the Bears do give you some value for your outlay, i'm half way through a six year deal with my Bears membership but i think i have had my last Villa ST no value there any more.

Anyway at least the tennis 'chicks' were bloody fit!!!

I mentioned the lack of sun in the members area to my wife. That is an astoundingly poor way to treat the members.

We sat in The Stanley Barnes, underneath the scoreboard (I loved the old scoreboard that was there, the iconic 501 Lara picture et al).

As the wicket fell the scoreboard showed Lancashire had three overs to bowl in less than four minutes, the time Bressylad took prattling about was taken into account. It was a great game though considering it was quick cricket!

Oh I agree with the penalty.

The one thing I would have issue with is that it wasn't announced to the crowd in an acceptable way. To just change the scoreboard without announcing it isn't really on.

That was very shabby, all it needed was an announcement.

Interesting. I also don't think attendances are helped by choosing to play every single game on Friday.

I know they took a survey and Fridays were judged the most popular across England.

However, I think playing every single game on a Friday is a bad idea. Even more so this year when evening clash with World Cup matches but daytimes don't.

Getting to Edgbaston for a half five start is rush hour. It's also very annoying to try to leave the ground at half ten or eleven when there are no nearby pubs that stay open late and public transport is shit. I also reckon kids are less likely to come if their parents know they're not likely to be back till gone midnight.

By all means play some games on Friday night, but don't abandon Saturday and Sunday afternoons altogether.

Stunning piece of fielding from Adan Lyth and Aaron Finch in the hit and run to dismiss Smith at Old Trafford.

wow, that really is a bit special.
