After seeing that I think the ban should stand he clearly swings the arm they quickly pulls it back and gives the ref the innocent look.Did he catch him ..no but there was clear intent

West Ham, dont have a leg to stand on..All decisions on fact are in the opinion of the referee.
The so called experts defence of Carroll is that there is minimal if any contact, but the in the Laws of the game, Kicking/striking OR attempting to kick/strike is violent conduct and therefore a red card offence.
In the opinion of the ref, carroll attempted to strike flores, wether there is contact is irrellevant, its still a red card offence.
Its not mistaken identity, its not wrong in law, its down to the opinion of the ref and no one else.
How many players get away with a yellow when tv shows it should/could have been red, but it stays at yellow.
They cant have it both ways

Will be interesting to see how we fare up against a team that wants us to have possession, gives us some time on the ball to try and unlock them.

It seems like a game where Westwood could potentially do well, he has a nice pass on him when he is given space.

It'll be a stand off, both teams refusing to enjoy possession. They'll take turns walloping it out of the ground at the Holte / Witton corner.

I would love us to wallop them, but being the optimistic grumpy fu**er that I am I think we'll make hard work of beating a team that are there for the taking!

Chico time does himself no favours but I just can't see enough for it to be rescinded.

That's the first time I've seen that, and as laughable as Chico's reaction was I think there was intent from Carroll.
I'm torn on this. Chico's having a bobble hat and scarf there for sure. I do think if Carroll had intent to plant an elbow on Chico's mug, he'd have done a better job.
Call me an anarchist but it's almost a shame he didn't smash that tossers conk in. I might be a little harsh perhaps...
This.

Carroll is not only shit in front of goal, but he's shit when it comes to swinging his arm. Like most of his shot attempts he does try to hit the target but usually misses.

Having Carroll out is like having Benteke out. So it will lower there levels of expectations. We need to score early and get the crowd buzzing. 2-0 Delph-Bacuna ........

Find out tomorrow if they get an injunction to stop the ban.If they do get one pretty much means no FA ruling is binding and you can go to court to fight it meanwhile avoiding the ban.

The other ramification is if Carroll was to play the next 3 games and contribute to a win then subsequently lose his appeal can ourselves and the other 2 teams then go to court to overturn the match result ?

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has some concerns on West Ham appealing Andy Carroll's red card

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert reckons a successful West Ham appeal on Andy Carroll's red card against Swansea may lead to chaos in the game.

The Hammers are trying to seek an arbitration panel hearing into Carroll's sending off during their 2-0 win over Swansea last weekend.

This week a three-man Football Association appeal's body upheld the decision of referee Howard Webb to dismiss Carroll following a clash with Chico Flores.

Speaking ahead of Villa's Premier League clash with West Ham, Lambert insists he understands West Ham's reasoning.

But the Scot also feels a dangerous precedent could be set the case goes before an arbitration panel as that would give other clubs the opportunity to ignore future FA decisions.

"I don't get involved in somebody else's business. It's up to West Ham and what they want to do," said Lambert.

"I don't know the ins and outs. All I know is they're debating trying to get him off. It's not my remit, it's for West Ham.

"But if is overruled then you create a monster of everybody wanting to do the same. That's what could happen."

Asked whether he would go down a similar route if the circumstances were the same and Villa striker Christian Benteke was in the dock, Lambert added: "It's hard to say. You can understand West Ham trying.

"You'd have to judge the incident on its merit. Everybody is going to be different, whether they think something is dangerous or not. That is their own perception.

"Whether West Ham see they've a chance to get it rescinded, I don't know."

They should both have got redcards. Carroll initially tried to extricate himself from the shoulder hold by Chico and used an elbow - worthy of at least a yellow card but then Carroll swung an arm which hit Chico on the top of the head in retaliation - a red card, but chico's reaction was as much worthy of an oscar as another card for simulation of being injured.

I agree Surrey. Thing is there is no need for Carroll to spin round with an arm flailing, it is a half hearted attempt to catch him without question, which is under the laws a sending off offence.

Them taking it to a legal battle is in my opinion totally out of order and clutching at straws to keep him available for 2 games they think they can win against us and Norwich. If he plays, they win both, he scores and then the arbitration panel reject it, frankly we should bang in our own legal challenge to the result and demand a replay. All if's and buts, but going down a legal route essentially to misdirect to enable him to play the next 2 is a farce.

Lambert should focus on his own team, get it right and we'll slaughter them. Gabby will be available, West Ham will be more concerned with their 6 pointer against Norwich 4 days later. Trying to play Mourinho style games just makes him look the weakling kicking the geek after he's been decked.

Get focused, Paul and get the lads up and ready to rip West Ham a new one. We're not as bad as you make us out to play. I still seeing us absolutely destroying West Ham, what we need to do is get our own game right.
