The absolute incompetence from all sides is breathtaking. The new contract for lambert, the appointment of a national team's assistant as our assistant who was known for being, erm, difficult, followed by a failure to replace him after he walked, the talk of a director of football etc. only to decide that the summer is the best time to do so rather than when there was an imminent need for change on the footballing side, and then there's the horror show on the field, week in, week out. I'm absolutely fucked off by it all.

We are, in effect, the new Newcastle.

With a hint of Derby County

Just fuck off Lambert. We are seriously being mugged off by Lerner and Co. He's a dead man walking as far as I'm concerned. If he keeps us up, he should be sacked and when he takes us down he should be sacked.

One 'no'? That's got to be someone fucking about, trying to cheer themselves up.

Me again.

I think things are awful, Villa-wise. I like Lambert but that should be no reason for him to be kept on. I genuinely don't think anyone better would come (and he's kept us up before after similar patches of total shit).

I think of Joe Kinnear and Shearer when I think about sacking him.

Well credit to you for sticking your neck out sir, you certainly have more spine than our manager.  I take your point on who we could end up with.  But to be fair Newcastle were heading down even if they had gotten someone better than Shearer which sadly could be our fate if we don't make the change soon.  As long as it is someone with some top level experience and who is decent at motivating players, and has more than one tactic I will take them.

Sacking him now might be too late, but it's the only card we have left to play. We simply have to play it now. It cannot get worse than it is already. The fans would be galvanised and unite behind the team, and whoever comes in will get support until we're assured safety. We're only going to beat this by coming together and fighting as one.

Fox and co have Harvey Dent's coin. Heads he keeps his job.

I hope he goes to the board and comes to some sort of financial agreement to part ways. Nobody walks anymore, but they can part ways for the good of the club. Both sides retain a bit of dignity and we can move on. I am just floored by tonight's result because I naively believed that it surely couldn't go on forever. And instead there is no sign at all that it is ever going to end while he is here.

It's been never going to end for ages now. Lots of people on here had sussed this twat out good and proper a long time ago and they have very sadly been proved bloody right. No-one takes any pleasure from that either. I am off to bed absolutely exhausted by it all.

Just got home from Hull. We were so so lacking in intensity: lacklustre, lacking direction or purpose, predictable, easy to defend against, immobile. These are some of the words to sum up the Villa play. It's not that we were desperately bad: we were just completely ineffectual.

Lambert seems to be clueless and incapable..

I wonder who would come in. But the point is, Lambert has nothing left to offer - he's not doing anything to rouse this squad to anything like the level of intensity required in this league.

So, he has to go!

A quick edit so now, if anyone does click the wrong option, you can remove your vote and then vote again. I'm the mod that keeps on giving.

The title of this thread should basically say "After our capitulation to ${GET_LAST_OPPONENT}".

Maybe the 'one' is LAMBERT!

No, voting requires too much of a basic level of intelligence. Last time he tried to vote in a poll he accidentally registered on Mumsnet.
