I don't care what he did or did not say about the FA Cup.   I saw him at Millwall and I have never seen such an inert, unmotivated robot of a manager in all my life.   Once he go off his seat, when Millwall scored, walked to the touchline, clapped his hands twice and sat down again.

Furthermore, the former Norwich City boss made himself no friends when he described the FA Cup as a "distraction," a comment which appears profoundly misguided as domestic competitions so often offer a window to better things for struggling clubs. Lambert subsequently lost at home to League 1 side Sheffield United- the fourth season in a row he had been eliminated by lower league opposition.

No he did not. He was given a leading question by a very unpleasant local reporter which was along the lines of "Do you think most premier league teams managers regard the FA cup as a distraction?" To which he said "If they are being honest then yes, its about the money."

There is plenty to criticize lambert with (terrible results for one) without putting words in his mouth about "disrespecting the cup" which he did not. In fact he continually plays strong sides for cups, and then embarrassingly loses against lower league opposition. Thats the scandal, not the made up one.

Good post.

In that same interview he also said modern players are more concerned about their next contract rise than medals.

Which might be true for some -maybe even most.  But not all.

It sounded then like a manager getting his excuses in early, and we've seen that pattern repeated a fair few times since.

No Villa fan wants to win the FA Cup for the extra million in the coffers, they want to win it because the history of the club is intertwined with the thing.

We don't know the details of his new contract. Maybe in two years time when we play Millwall again he'll be required to clap his hands thrice. I suppose it all hinges on Health and Safety.

The last few seasons we have had people on here at about this time, saying we were as good as relegated, and it struck me as massively over the top.

Not this season, though. Look at our abysmal record and where the momentum is pointing.

If this dud stays in charge till the end of the season, we are done for.

You just can not maintain the record we have since that new contract for very long and hope to stay up.

We are going down, and the morons running us will absolutely deserve it. The suggestion in that article that Lambert is under no pressure is truly horrifying. Mostly because it is absolutely believable. These people are absolutely beyond redemption.

You finally got the message cuz it didn't look like it was sinking in.
It's amazing that you haven't got the message in spite of the number of times you've been banned from posting on here.

Still, we're flattered.

Sorry. I forgot that you were another of those who would argue black is white. How do you feel knowing that you had backed a duff manager for so long?
How on earth would you know anything about my opinions as you've only been on here for five weeks?

Because it would be pretty pathetic trying to hang around like a spurned lover after you'd already been told that you weren't wanted, wouldn't it?
You are still saying the same shit that you have for years. How did they select you as a moderator? Was your unpleasant nature something that stood in your favour? Do you have a book of smart arse responses? If not, you should write one. You will have plenty of mates to help you.

Mark, we get it, you don't like it here.  That's fine, but don't ruin it for the people that do.

So why the fuck are you still here then?
That's like complaining that the pub you're in is a shithole, but staying for an extra couple of pints.

A site so ruined 'Mark' just can't stay away, no matter how many times we ban him. He could teach small heath a few things about obsession.

It appears that it's one particular person he doesn't like rather than the site. No idea why he had a go at Paulie though who is a good moderator and, it seems to me, an all round good egg whose posts I enjoy immensely
