Oh you lot. Hate, detest, despise. He's a man that's just not very good at his job, not Hitler.

They're just words thrown around which aren't meant to be taken literally.

You'd be surprised by how many people do mean it though.

It's a passionate game and people say things in the heat of the moment that they don't mean.

I suspect that hate, detest, despise, loathe and all the over phrases that get thrown about is misdirected.

What we actually mean is that we hate, detest, despise, loathe what is happening on the pitch, the way he sends out his team, what is happening to the club etc.

I'm not sure you can express those kind of emotions to someone you don't know, but you can express them about their actions and attitudes.

Yes but even Hitler (not reknowned for his tactics) wouldn't have started Cleverly!

As the war in the East showed Hitler had quite a solid defence but rather a blunt attack when up against a decent side. His team ended up spending a lot of time camped in its own half, dropping back deeper and deeper towards its own goal line, having made a good start to the game but failing to kill it off while on top.
Very good indeed Richard.
Very, very good.

I don't knoe, I think some people do mean it to an extent. They get angry just hearing his voice, getting riled just typing about him. Its all relative, of course - people care about the Villa. I just think that Lambert's a man who's clearly finding the job difficult, not doing very well, but he's not someone who makes me hate him. I just find it a bit over the top.

And of course Hitler ultimately had a bunker mentality.

I agree, some of it is. There were people who hated Doug and still do.

Things are not great (which is a bit of an understatement) but I don't hate Lambert or Lerner because of it.

I bet I'm not the only Villa fan recieving unmerciful stick at work about just how bad we are at the moment. Our record and stats over the last few seasons are genuinely embarrassing, and our lack of goals this season is quite humiliating. What Lerner and Lambert are doing to this club is unforgivable in my opinion. I cringe every time I see our woes played out in the media. Bloody Robbie Savage is at it again today.
The sooner this nightmare is over the better.

It pisses me off that a no mark scumbag like Savage, who played for utter shit all his career with his smarmy I flicked the back of your ear but the teacher didn't see kind of grin is in a position to keep having a pop at us. I can't wait for when we've sorted ourselves out and pricks like Gobby can go back to talking nonsense about Spurs.

Remember Savage EVERY pitiful, hill billy, tin pot club you've ever played for could probably fit it's average attendance in the Holte End.

That sums me up very nicely. Although I have been hugely disparaging about him on here, in the cold light of day - and boy is it cold here today - and away from game time, I probably just dislike him, find him irritating and don't think he is very bright. Not that the latter sets him apart from most other managers

Quote
The Telegraph: Internet rules and laws: the top 10, from Godwin to Poe

1. Godwin’s Law
The most famous of all the internet laws, formed by Mike Godwin in 1990. As originally stated, it said: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." It has now been expanded to include all web discussions.

It is closely related to the logical fallacy “reductio ad Hitlerum”, which says “Hitler (or the Nazis) liked X, so X is bad”, frequently used to denigrate vegetarians and atheists.

Common Godwin's Law appearances include describing women's rights campaigners as “feminazis”, comparing the former US President George W Bush to Hitler, or saying Barack Obama's proposed healthcare reforms are the new Holocaust.

In its broader sense it can be used to describe any situation where a poster loses all sense of proportion, for example describing New Labour as “Zanu-Labour” after Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwean political party Zanu-PF.

As well as the descriptive form, it can be used prescriptively: so if any poster does mention the Nazis in a discussion thread, Godwin’s Law can be invoked, they instantly lose the argument and the thread can be ended.

If this is done deliberately to end the argument, however, it does not apply. This codicil is known as “Quirk’s Exception”.

MON was more like Hitler.  Had us believing, as he himself did, that he could take over the world, ended up with a siege/bunker mentality and ultimately fell  on his sword.
