As soon as Randy formally out the club up for sale it gave Lambert a free stash of excuses from which to hide behind. It provided him with sympathy from any media outlet that couldn't be arsed to dig further. Only recently have some reports started to call out the naked emperor.

Considering Lambert's list of record worsts it's almost impossible to believe someone could come in and do even worse.  However, Lerner and co. would probably find him.

You and many others didn't say that when Randy got Lambert initially. He wasn't a bad hire when he arrived. He's become a bad hire given his body of work at the club.

Lerner's problem wasn't hiring Lambert. At the time, it looked like a good move, and was supported by the majority.

The problem is that here we are now, having had five or six periods of results so bad, that any other club in the top flight would have sacked their manager for just one of them, and Lambert is still in place.

That stuff about getting Lambert's input on a director of football just makes me feel nauseous.

Basically, Lambert is part of the furniture, and will remain so until Lerner can sell. I don't even think we'd get shot of him if we got relegated.

Why would I have said that at the time?  That's a comment about the here and now.

And for the record I wasn't that keen, because he'd only got one year's Premier League experience, but I could see why they'd done it.

ETA - The mistake wasn't hiring him; it's not firing him when he patently isn't up to it.

The club need to be careful. If we do stay up and it's another season of Lambert next year, more and more people are going to think twice before parting with the best part of £500.

I thought about it this season and didn't renew - now I'm waivering about bothering to attend after the Albion match - I get mad with myself but the only enjoyable experience was the Blackpool match when we were all mucking about...

There will be another drop in season tickets with Lambore running the circus again next season.

You'll be glad you did when your collecting your FA Cup final ticket

If we stay up, I see us being rid of both Lerner and Lambert in the summer. If we go down, well I don't even want to contemplate it..

I've only missed two aways this season. I've paid out for Arsenal and barring an FA Cup match, I don't want to do Another away. I'm not enjoying it, and I'm thinking I can probably put the £200 a month I reserve for aways on something else.

There's nothing in the world that would want me to keep Lambert now. Its got that bad i feel actual rage every time i even hear him speak

I absolutely detest the bloke. Now, i've never met him (and have absolutely no desire to) but that's how much he's wound me up and ground me down over the last 3 years

Detest is a harsh word, but there's nothing i like about him at all. In fact i'm getting riled just typing this. My dislike of McLeish or even O'Leary never came this close

I've gone this mental too. Even when we signed Gil I saw him start talking about him and just thought fuck off Paul and turned over. I find him a drain on football now and even the most positive words from his mouth come out sounding negative and excusey.

I genuinely cannot understand why other people cannot see this too. Particularly Lerner and Fox. I actually wonder if Lerner might sell quicker if Lambert was gone and the place had a better feel about it. My enjoyment of football has also diminished. I have played, coached and managed at a good standard, watched Villa since 1976, when I was 9. Yet now, I feel completely underwhelmed by the way the club is being run and have very little love for the game. Cheers Randy/Paul.

I heard today we are the only premier league club that a substitute hasn't scored for this season.

No surprising really when we've only scored 11 and we only play with 11 players (except when we are down to 10 of course!)

As TV says Lambert has a raft of cop outs which he uses endlessly. If we scrape up he will claim job done. If we go down he will present himself as the man to get us back up. Lerner has the same chameleon qualities. We don't find a buyer, he only wants the best for the club, we do find a buyer he leaves it to the new owner to solve institutionalized failure of his creation. I have been as angry as hell with the Villa many times over the years but this time it is different.  It flows from the trumpeting of reduced expectations as progress. I just don't want to go to Villa games any more. Lerner and Lambert have won as far as I am concerned. I shall start watching Dulwich Hamlet again when I feel the need for flesh and blood football and stop being terminally depressed by what is going on at Villa Park.
