There seems little doubt he is staying for a while, so while he is I want us to spend some fucking money, sign some players better than the fuckers getting picked every week, win some fucking games and score some fucking goals.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand breath.

You say that but him staying, regardless of who he buys, will only end in tears. I'd like to think that seriously reduced crowds (which are virtually there already) and some significant vocal disapproval from the poor souls who do turn up might force Randy's hand.

There were plenty who thought TSM would get another season until the tide turned after the Bolton game.

Yeah but he hadn't just signed a four year deal

I heard only rumours somewhere about a director of football coming in.
Someone whispered this to me a few weeks ago.
I started to worry even more.

Four year deals mean nothing if this dire run of dross continues. Surely?

Agreed, but if Randy's shown anything during his time at the Villa, it's that he's willing to admit a mistake. I can't see Tom Fox wanting to be in charge of relegating Aston Villa in his first season as a CEO anywhere either.

I agree with you and Leighton above
It just means he's bought himself a bit more time
I've always said if we drop into the bottom 3 playing like we are, there is only one decision Randy will make

Weekly Stato Alert

Rolling 38 game            Rolling 19 game             Rolling 10 game
                    Total                          Prediction                      Prediction
Points           37                                  36                                   42
Goals            31*                                20                                   23
GD              -28                                 -26                                   -4
Won               9                                     8                                     8
Drawn          10                                   12                                   18
Lost             19                                   18                                   11

*31 goals scored is the lowest rolling 38 game total from the start of last season.  After the first game of this season it was 39.  If the current rate of decline continues we end up at 25 goals.

Genuinely surprised at the 10 game prediction, but if the next 3 games go anywhere near expectations that prediction will start to come back into line with the other predictions.

Whichever way you cut it it's squeeky bum time yet again.

I'm still not quite sure why people persist with the idea we're certainties for relegation.

As things stand, so far this season, we're 13tge best in the division. It doesn't fucking feel like it though, I'll grant you that.

We're awful, apparently bereft of ideas or inspiration, and constantly taking one step forward and three steps back, however, our defence is pretty solid and that's saving our bacon.

Lambert needs to go though, it's unbearably bad.

I don't think it's that we're certainties for relegation, more that it looks like it's going to be unbearably close again.

We couldn't have complained too much if the away game at Palace had ended in a draw, they we'd be sitting one point of the drop zone, and we've got one of the worst goal differences of everyone in the bottom half.

It's only going to take a couple of games like that to go against us and we're right in the brown and smelly stuff.

He'll probably pull a couple of unexpected wins out of the bag and do just enough to stay the building clamour for him to go, but one of these days he, and be extension us, will run out of luck.

You can do that with a lot of games though. No one would have said it was undeserved if we'd beaten Spuds, Saints and Burnley as examples.
Until we learn to score then we're going to struggle. And be tedious to watch.

I agree we'll get an unexpected win, hopefully Chavski at home as i'm going and it will piss on Jose's parade and keep his VP run going.

I heard only rumours somewhere about a director of football coming in.

See that'd be utterly pointless. Lambert isn't too bad at identifying players, it's when he manages them that the problems arise.

I hope this is true as, more than anything else, this club needs someone who could/would advise against a new contract after 4 games.  He'd have paid his salary for that judgement alone.

I also think the director of football role should be more than the identification of players. The person should be responsible for identification of a playing philosophy which is played from youth to first team.  They should be engaging with people are pushing sports science and ensuring that the training facilities are the best they can be.

Watch this link.  This guy probably knows nothing about football, but he has an manner and vision which seems to demand that people try and improve.  Fox is similar but in a different context.

See now Guzan has said this -

"We can sit here and lump the ball forward, hope for the best and try to pick up second balls but who wants to watch that?'

It seems the club is trying to erase the truth of the last two years. You're right Brad no one does want to watch that, but why did the team insist on playing like that for so long then? and the current performances are hardly much to write home about.
