I don't mind what he said in the press conference. He's under-fire and will fight his corner. To an extent I think that the booing won't help the players either, but it's got to be expected after a long-lasting horror show when goals and victories seem increasingly hard to come by.

I have, for the first time, voted that I think that he needs to be replaced. I'd really like it to work out for Lambert, but sadly he looks a little out of his depth at the moment. That being said, I don't think what he said about the booing is worthy of anger or astonishment - it's a fairly unsurprising response to the criticism.

It is a fairly unsurprising response from him. As Joe_C pointed out on the previous page, Lambert could have said something similar but in a more honest, reflective sense. Not only do his teams not play a good game, Lambert can't even talk one. Unlike most PL managers, he really avoids talking about football, what he's trying to do, what worked, what didn't, what he's looking to improve. My guess is it's because he's very confused and makes it up as he goes along.

He'll get a really good result next week and the pressure will be off. We then won't repeat the good work for a while.

Ad infinitum.

That is precisely the problem, it is a cycle we've seen several times before, and his inability to break it is the most damning indictment on the job he's done.

Lambert is a bit like Arry in press conferences. He doesn't think what he is saying. Sometimes it makes him look a little silly and divorced from reality. With Arry it is usually entertaining. With Lambert you just shake your head and hope things get better in time.

Knowing that will probably not be the case.

I can only see two ways that we'll see the back of Lambert. 1. Randy manages to sell the club and the new owners get rid sharpish. 2. We find ourselves in the bottom three and getting cut adrift, Randy sees the value of the club dropping like a stone and finally decides to cut his losses gets rid and brings in a manager to rescue his investment.
The second option with us staring relegation in the face doesn't bear thinking about,  because I don't think Randy would make the change until it's too late and no manager would be able to save us.
So I'm afraid it's down to option one and I wont be holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
No amount of booing is going to work this time unless Lambert is not as thick skinned as I think he is and he decides to walk.

Why can't he just get a bloody coach in?  Whatever he's doing with the team on the offensive side its clear it's not working, which is hardly surprising seeing as he barely crossed the half way line as a player.

Disagree. If they wanted to cut costs they would never have hired Keane and would have gone the cheap route or just not signed someone like Joe Cole who is on a lot more than a coach would be.

It's down to Lambert, he's said an assistant offers him other opinions but he comes across as arrogant and single minded the way he sticks with something long after it's gone wrong. I think Lambert just doesn't feel like we need one desperately at the moment.

The fans would in a heartbeat. The Chairman absolutely hates him though, so no chance.

What is absolutely clear is that Lambert has no idea how to get the midfield right.
If you look at the regular midfielders with the exception of Sanchez none of them are good enough at any of the normal midfield roles.

This is the heart of the problem and his system detracts from the ability of the players he has and makes the team worse.

Richardson, Cleverly, Weiman, Gabby, Westwood are not, Ball Winners, Ball Carriers, Creators, Box To Box Players, or scorers, they are just running around in the general area of the pitch achieving fuck all.
He obviously has no ide what he is doing.

At the beginning we was all prepared for 1 step forward and 3 back and it was expected. I never once thought 3 years later that would turn into 1 step forward and 6 games without a goal.

I'd say Delph is good enough to be playing a midfield higher than twelth in the league.

I wonder if Lerner would refuse any chairman permission to approach Lambert.

Gary Lineker just said on BBC that Bournemouth will take on a "struggling" Aston Villa. The media are starting to notice. Pressure will  now build on Lambert.
