With Lambert as our manager I'd be happy to see football take a longer break, say 4 years?

To be fair I would be in favour of a proper break after 3rd round of FA Cup for the top 2 leagues thereby not disturbing the traditional Christmas fixture fest. 2.5-3 weeks.

Although I try not to I still give a little bit of a shit about England in Finals tournaments. More palatable nowadays with less hype I suppose.

Without wanting to be a turkey voting for Christmas this could be achieved by reducing the Premier League to 18 and the 2nd Tier to 22.

Oh and the Poundland Martin O'Neill is a fine quip - cleverly appropriated, knowingly or otherwise, from a somewhat self indulgent comedian

I am all for football over the Xmas period but we never seem to win. Let everybody else play and we should have a winter break, no more messed up Boxing days. One problem with this cunning plan, do we statistically ever have a good month?

With 4 goals and 8 points from the 6 games I reckon December is our most successful month for a fair while, which sums us up pretty neatly.

I used Mon-lite when we were first linked with him and most fans thought he was going to be perfect for us.  I'm generally support of the manager once he's in place but the only time I didn't feel that was an accurate description was for those few months at the end of his first season where he seemed to find a way to get Bentee, Gabby and Weimann working and had the midfield pressing high up the pitch and creating counter attacks from halfway rather than the edge of our own box.

I certainly wanted him as saw what he had done at Norwich who were an utter shambles when he took over. It was a progressive appointment after 3 comparative dinosaurs.

Alas the 3 months in spring 2013, when we played much like Norwich had when he was in charge, turned out to be a false dawn.

A false dawn indeed.   How many of those have we had?   The sun will come tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar etc.
How many tomorrows are there in four years?

And don't forget that 5 year plan back in '06.

I never expected us to win alot with Lambert as in trophies but I was happy we might see some 4 3 thrillers winning and losing , some entertainment.

Yes indeed SH the gone and not lamented 5 year plan.   It all falls into focus when you consider the Curiousorange Truth.   We have a future but no time frame.   That essential truth allows us to believe that the 5 year plan has not yet begun, and may indeed start tomorrow.

I thought we'd see a new approach/positive style along the lines of what he was doing at Norwich, that we'd steadily improve, with a few blips along the way, but show clear signs of progress and aspire to challenge the top 6.

I still think that, but then the alarm goes and I wake up.

I didn't expect to win a trophy I did expect that our cup runs wouldn't end at the hands of the footballing giants of Bradford City , Leyton Orient , Milwall ..
