And tbh he probably deserved a yellow for the shove.  Thats a yellow card offense right?

Tbh I was relieved it was only a yellow, but on one of the commentaries last week someone said it's yellow for a shove in the chest and red if it's in the face. Not sure about that, but whatever it is the inconsistency gets me. Benteke had to go for shoving Mason in the face, but Mason should have had a card for shoving his head in Benteke's face, and Soldado should have had a yellow for running 20 yards and shoving Benteke in the chest. But, as we're finding out every week, Spurs are allowed to do what they want and escape any cards.

Well Konchesky deserved a yellow for the tackle.

Anyhow, I have caused a digression.

The point remains, we beat a Leicester side that apart from Cambiasso was plying its trade in the Championship this time last year.

especially Vertonghen, as he had another shocking "tackle" vs Swansea last night...

West Ham are 4th FFS - what's the spending difference btw the 2 clubs?

They spent about 4x more than we did this summer.

Precisely. Lets see where they end up (it wont be anywhere near 4th). And btw, this from the same man that just 18 months ago, was a pariah at West Ham. Football is a funny game, and none more so than for managers.

I don't really see the relevance of that, though.

We complain when we don't win matches, then when we do win some, we worry that the opposition were shit. I am as disappointed with this manager as the next man, but I'm not about to start worrying too much about games we've won.

It is also worth noting that Leicester are exactly the sort of shit or recently promoted side which beat us frequently last year - remember Palace turning us over home and away? And Fulham doing the same?

I don't think the Palace and Leicester results are really going to turn to be a great turning point, but I'm glad we won them, and we fully deserved to win both of them.

The ref screwed up by waving the red card at Konchesky. Had he waved a yellow for the tackle and then the yellow again for the reaction, it would have been bang-on, and consistent with the yellow that Hutton received.

I am not complaining about winning the 2 matches - rather highlighting the fact that we were ok at Palace and after that we beat a team on an awful run, that consisted of players that were a year ago playing in the Championship.

So, to sum up if we lose it is because we were shit regardless of the opposition and if we win it is because the opposition were shit regardless of how we play.

No, and that isn't what I was saying.

We have won 2 games in god knows how many, one of which against a newly promoted team. I won't get carried away in the same way I won't get carried away if we lose to Chelsea or Man City.

I think we played better against Leicester than we did against Palace, there could be all sorts of reasons for this, one of which could be Leicester are on an awful run.

In terms of turning points, I would love it to be one - however I don't think it will. I see no improvement in the style of play, we have 3 attacking players that hardly score or create chances, and a midfield that seems to lack movement. Delph coming back may well improve the lack of movement, let's hope he stays with us.

This thread encapsulates the nature of our current malaise compared with previous troughs.   We have become too tolerant of mediocrity.

It will be interesting to see how the new tactics of passing backwards from goal kicks works against a resurgent Manchester Yanited this weekend . Viva Lambert .

Have they won something like 8 on the bounce?
Is rather that the case than them in a dark place...You never know we might surprise ourselves?

I think you'll find its that some have finally accepted relevance and context = reality.
