Sanchez seems to he finding his feet. Looking like a decent signing. I hope Lambert gets more to spend in January as we need to build on this current run. Beat the Albion next week and things will look a whole lot better.

I watched Villa vs Leicester and was left thinking that this team isn't all that bad. I stand by my earlier statement that reading this forum sometimes forms the impression that it's March and that we're rock bottom. It's understandable that people are tired of Lambert, but part of the truth is that, despite supposedly being a disciple of MON, he has been carrying out a thankless task with patience and dignity. He didn't deserve the three year extention, but at the moment, he doesn't deserve the sack either. I'm sticking with my "Give him till Christmas" vote.

Lets wait and see, we've had spells in his time where it's looked like he'd finally got us going in the right direction and every single one of them has been immediately followed by a spell of big defeats and poor performances. If he can keep us going into the new year then it might be different but I still don't think hes the right guy for us in the long term.

In the long term, maybe not. But as long the owner's looking to sell I'm not sure that there's much point in talking about the long term. It's more about making the best of what we have for the time being. Not long ago there were posts on here saying that appointing Tony Pulis was an unpleasant but necessary decision that should be made imminently. I'm merely making the case that Lambert should be given till Christmas. Not meant as a ringing endorsement. Primum non nocere, more like.

With Lambert being over in Germany and observing and talking with Bayern Munich management and players I hope this can be taken into villa play on the pitch. He stated it was eye opening so think this is only positive that Lambert's learning and developing . Guardiola is a genius and Lambert would gave taken away a lot .

McGrath in heaven, if he takes away some ideas from Guardiola he really might stand a chance.

Maybe we will see our ball retention improve and our possession stats go from the low 30% to mid to high 30% range this weekend :)

And very welcome it is too. The team clearly had orders to play it out from the back and did so almost to a fault (at least twice going direct to tekkers may have been better).

But I am not complaining about a philosophy of ball retention like that is what I want from Villa. As the players get used to the style they will only get quicker zipping it about and better at picking out a through ball.

A week at Bayern and we double our possession stats. Maybe after a few weeks he sneak back with Robben, Muller and Gotze

I thought it was guzan carrying a knock so not wanting to kick a dead ball too often?

After winning two in a row under Lambert every single next game has been lost. The fixtures are set up for us now, teams who with a bit of defensive nous and a charging Benteke we can get something in every single game.

Here's to an unbeaten in 10 run!

Honestly the only game between now and February that has any fear is Man U and that's largely because of our record against them rather than their ability. I said weeks ago we need to get 15-20 points from this run of games (starting with Burnley), 7 from the first 3 is a very good start but we need to push on and get a run of good results now.  If you look at our fixtures in April and May I don't want to be going into that set with less than 34-35 points or we'd be at risk of being pulled right back into things.

The poll always seems to be reset after a defeat. So let's try it after a win.

Reset with 75% wanting him out.

If he can turn us around then I'd rather he stay. That's in the face of trusting our management to actually find a good replacement and then that replacement needing to rebuild again. It's quicker if Lambert just figures out how to get us to play. We look better with Benteke back, so who knows.

I expect us to beat sides like Palace and Leicester, so the results are encouraging. Bit concerned how we seem to sit back and defend when we get in front though.
