Then Lambert is underperforming because he has had access to better players and more spending power than the majority of clubs in the PL.

The numbers I've found suggest that the only club to spend less on transfer fees this summer was Stoke, and in the previous two summers we spent in the region of 15-20 million each time, which sounds like a lot, but was actually less than 14 other clubs.  So in terms of spending power we actually have less than the majority of the clubs in the PL.

I agree that Lambert has been a total disaster, but lets not forget that he's been given a job that even a good manager would find difficult.

I'm not claiming Lambert is doing a good job - simply that a manager doing a better job would unlikely materially change the final result. Because whomever that is, they dont control nor have the power to decide how much to spend.
And I think that PL has a good squad for mid-table ... And that might be demonstrated later on!
He has a decent squad: I'm not convinced that as a coach and as head of the coaching team he's got the best out of the players. That's all.

The table never lies. Unattractive it is, but the fanaticism with 'his' playing style can't be confused with the results.

With the exception of WH and Southampton, the table looks 'right' to me in that it's by and large reflective the spending power of each club. And therein lies the tale that won't go away whether Lambert or any other sacrificial lamb is in charge
The table gives us a relative view of our performance; that's true.
However, the link to spend is only relevant as long as you believe that each manager is making best use of their funds. Sourhampton and Wet Spam demonstrate currently that managerial effectiveness and the absence of injuries, amongst other things, result in better performances.
With Lambert, we have a manager who seems incapable of maximising the squad at his disposal.

Sure, but the point here is that by and large, the table (not just now but for 5-6 seasons now since money truly ruined the beautiful game) reflects the relative spending power of each club. True, there are always one or two exceptions each year, but the trend is abundantly clear. And not to remind anyone but Allardyce was a pariah not too long ago - we will see where they end up but likely mid table as per my point.

I'm not claiming Lambert is doing a good job - simply that a manager doing a better job would unlikely materially change the final result. Because whomever that is, they dont control nor have the power to decide how much to spend.

I'm afraid your statement is factually incorrect, per many others posts which clearly show that he has not had more spending power than the majority of clubs in the PL. Hating the man is fine, but making facts up to support your POV makes little sense

With Lambert being over in Germany and observing and talking with Bayern Munich management and players I hope this can be taken into villa play on the pitch. He stated it was eye opening so think this is only positive that Lambert's learning and developing . Guardiola is a genius and Lambert would gave taken away a lot .

McGrath in heaven, if he takes away some ideas from Guardiola he really might stand a chance.

Maybe we will see our ball retention improve and our possession stats go from the low 30% to mid to high 30% range this weekend :)

I watched Villa vs Leicester and was left thinking that this team isn't all that bad. I stand by my earlier statement that reading this forum sometimes forms the impression that it's March and that we're rock bottom. It's understandable that people are tired of Lambert, but part of the truth is that, despite supposedly being a disciple of MON, he has been carrying out a thankless task with patience and dignity. He didn't deserve the three year extention, but at the moment, he doesn't deserve the sack either. I'm sticking with my "Give him till Christmas" vote.

Lets wait and see, we've had spells in his time where it's looked like he'd finally got us going in the right direction and every single one of them has been immediately followed by a spell of big defeats and poor performances. If he can keep us going into the new year then it might be different but I still don't think hes the right guy for us in the long term.

Fair fuck's to him this week.

I said to our kid Tuesday afternoon that we'd win that night as whenever the shit's really coming down on him, he seems to pull one out of the bag.

He said in today's post-match interview that they'd tried something new only yesterday and the players took it onto the pitch today. Not sure what it was but he said they'd continue to try and do it in up-coming games

Got to give him credit. he set us up to attack and kept at it the whole game. If it wasn't for some excellent keeping the game would have had 4 more goals, 3 of them ours.

I know its "just Leicester" but we did dominate them at home. Thats what I wanted to see.

Well done.
