It will be interesting how he reacts to the chants after the penalty. There is no way he will have failed to hear the "we want Lambert out" song.

But nobody picks him up on it.
The only Villa fan on 606 tonight was on about Keane.
I don't have the confidence to ring in but would just state the stats on the rolling 38-game results so that people can realise how utterly awful his record is.

And I don't care if he is decent or a good bloke, he's fucking up my football team not getting the drinks in!

Whenever I have read in these threads the comment that Lerner and Fox probably think Lambert is doing a good job I have tended to dismiss it as a bit of irony or hyperbole.   However, this evening as I struggled to come to terms with yet another game thrown away, it occurred to me that it really is quite possible that they think Lambert is doing well under the circumstances.   All the club wants is the Sky television money.   Wins, defeats, rubbish football, falling gates, unhappy fans are trivialities just so long as we can flop over the right side of he line next May.   It is the only explanation for him not having been sacked months ago and getting a new four year contract.   He is their man doing their bidding.

606 don't cover villa unless it's savage making some disparaging remarks. Put call collymore on instead as he normally dedicates a good portion of his show to villa. Had about 8 villa callers tonight , every one said he has to go immediately

If you get on 606 WW and start to tell it how it is they pull the plug on you.   They have done it to me twice.   They like you to conform to their prejudices.   When they hear my age in my voice they expect stuff about why don't goalies wear woolly gloves any more and the astronomical price of a cup of Bovril.   Start laying into Gobby Cabbage or Fatty Green and they disconnect you.

If you employ someone and tell them that you want them to achieve a specific target (let's say stay in the Premiership) and they do that do you care how they achieve it if you have no interest in the "company"?

I have a lot of time for what you post Brian and thought you had this one worked out mate - you're just to nice a chap ;-)

You must know very little about the workings of a football club to give both Lambert and Agbonlahor new contracts when they patently do not deserve them. I think Mr Lerner was scared that Lambert was going to walk out and he was going to have to replace him at short notice  which costs money.

I think Mr Lerner will have to sell the club for far far less than he intended if he really wants out.

'Under the circumstances'
Not pointed at you Brian, because it keeps cropping up, but what the bloody hell are these 'circumstances' that keep being used as mitigation for Lamberts total inadequacies.

I thought this might be the case Brian - the only thing is I wouldn't light into any of them, I would just read out the stats...

With 3 points from 9 matches, if Lambert stays and we maintain this form (and why shouldn't we?7) we will end the season on 22 points.

Nothing more needs to be said about what must happen now.

At best we're headed for 38 points which will equal our worst tally in the prem and may not be enough to keep us in it this year

The pro-Lambert support always reminds me of the people who come out of the woodwork on Twitter when there is a jumper or someone who has brought a train line to a halt.....and a city centre grinds to a standstill for 3 or 4 days.....

"Oh...the poor man...he's misunderstood.....let's give him more hugs......"

AVFC ground to a halt on 27 September......we need more hugs......

The thing that gets me isn't how shit we are, or how shit Lambert is right now, and it isn't how poor our currrent run is - although it is, desperately - the thing that really gets me in the stomach is the feeling that, actually, this shitness is totally acceptable to the people in charge.

They either don't understand us, or don't care enough to even so much as raise an eyebrow to a manager who has delivered 3 points from the last 27.

Totally unacceptable is one thing, but when it is acceptable to the people in charge, that is a different thing entirely.

While they genuinely fucked up again with the new contract (filed under fuck up #63813), they can fix this by firing him. The support for him and the strategy candle of stability has a wick that is nearly burnt out. Naively or not they could never have seen such a magnificent collapse coming so soon after the contract was signed. That said they can get out the cheque book out one more time and cut ties before we get too deep into this season. It's already a dire situation now. It can't be allowed to get much worse.

Unfortunatley, I'm honestly starting to think that Lambert and Lerners combined IQ is of that of a toddler.

Their decisions lack any rational explanation. Lamberts team management, tactics, substitutions, team talks, signings, Backroom appointments have pretty always been disastrous as are Lerner's management of club finances, managerial recruitment, PR with fans and overall direction.

Where we could end up by the time these two idiots have finally fucked off Christ only knows.

I think that Lerner recognises that he's shit, understands it needs more money to be successful and doesn't want to pay.

I also think that he's chuffed to have someone like Lambert, who will just get on with the job in hand, and tries his best having been dealt a shit hand.

If we change manager, we will have to invest again, Lerner wants out, so wants to keep the status quo. Either that or he just really doesn't give a shit and has written off his investment.

Fox has come in as it's a career move, a step up and he'll have CEO on his CV and had to work under shit ownership so he can't really lose. The playing side is all about the manager and owner.

Nobody is losing (apart from the fucking team) and that's why there's no change.

If Lambert stays, we go down. If he goes, we have a chance of staying up. Has there ever been an easier decision in football?
