I wonder when Lamberts Bolton moment will be.  Against West Ham and Soton, he has scraped a draw which most fans would class as probably acceptable even though we have been awful in both games. Would the fans accept that against palace, leicester and burnley? I think probably not. I would presume a defeat in any of them will be enough for the fans to turn. I would also imagine low or non scoring draws in two of them would be enough.

Will the injuries and suspensions be enough for him to hide behind and keep the fans anger at bay? I think the last two games have resulted in the absolute minimum return, anything less than 6 points from those three will surely be enough for anyone left on the fence.

Unfortunately, it needs Lerner to come off the fence, if he's on it.

The entire midfield off, anyone who's ever scored a goal on combination against Bradford was his defining moment for substitutions for me. Will never be beaten.

Good point actually!

On numerous occasions last night our players were looking up for somebody to pass to and there was no one. They literally had no idea what to do. Tactically shocking yet again.

There were a couple of times Sanchez looked up for a runner to hit but whilst waving someone forward lost the ball....must be just like when he plays for his country...Weimman / James Rodriguez

Lambert will be gone after the West Brom game. It will take a new manager to pick us up after a defeat to that shower.

Watching his interview last night I think he senses his days are numbered, not that he looked too bothered. Why would he, it's football and he'll be very happy looking at his bank balance rather than our league position. He'll probably take some time off to spend some more time in Germany doing a few more coaching badges.

Those subs get more overplayed as time goes on. He swapped Bannan for Bent after an hour when we needed 2, and with 20 mins to go and us still needing 2 he took off Bennett for Weimann. We still had 3 midfielders on the pitch, Zog, Delph, Ireland. Well 2, as Ireland doesn't count as a player.

Lambert out. Even with half the team out we should  be beating teams like soton. Weimann disgraceful, that goes in it's game over.

Last night, we saw another demonstration of Lambert's ability to talent-scout, with Okore coming back in and looking every bit the player we thought we had last year, but we also saw that in both tactics and strategy, in both the short- and the long-term establishing of a style of play, he has virtually no good ideas.

The only reason he's a manager instead of working to his strengths (i.e. by being a scout) is because he was a prominent and assertive player and captain, and, like Paul Ince, people make the mistake of thinking that he'd be a 'natural leader' in any area of the game. It could be that a former journeyman pro who's stuck as a scout somewhere would make a better manager, but that's our quirky sport for you.

I hope he goes soon, for his own sake as much as ours. It's quite amazing to see someone so clearly out of their depth struggle on for this long. The poor bastard can't have much left in him.

That's a pretty negative viewpoint, I must say.

We scored an actual goal last night. The holy grail of football.

Just seen Lambert's post match interview for the first time. It really does make my blood boil. You'd think we were League Two - and we soon will be if that clown doesn't leave soon. The bloke I bumped into in Chelmsford the other day praising Lambert is probably sat there right now rubbing his hands in glee at such a fantastic point.

Lambert league record after last night
W 23 D 22 L 43

At home that reads W 15 D 10 L 22!

Lambert has overseen some of the worst football, results and just general attitude to the game that I have seen at Villa.

A point at home against a team who are 2nd in the league is by no means a disaster.....but it was the same old desperate football...defend, defend...counter.  Everything has to be done at 100mph, no creativity or composure.  He can hide behind injuries, ironically the 2 centre halves were head and shoulders the best players on the field.

I still keep coming back to starting the season without knowing when Benteke / Kozak would be fit so the folly of not getting another targetman on loan if the only tactic you have relies on the vague hope that you hammer it forward and it gets held up for 3 days to allow the odd player to join in the attack is bizarre.

His Bolton game just cant come soon enough....I'll actually relish the patronising media from his buddies that we'll get when he does eventually go...'can they do better?'....'he has done well under the circumstances'......YAWN...he has built the team, he has bought the team, he has had two different coaching staffs, he defines the mentality....it is DULL, DULL, DULL...negative & borderline pointless

25k at home...whilst I enjoyed the lack of traffic it was two teams going through the motions, hate the way he has made our team nothing more than driftwood, fodder for teams who actually want to play the game, entertain and try and win.
