It's worth remembering back when we had a full strength team available last season we still looked clueless.

Which is exactly why the injury 'restrictions' can't be leaned on so heavily, the football has been consistently poor for nearly 100 games bar a run of 10-12 games at the end of his first season where everything suddenly clicked around Benteke.

For example Shef United in the cup , we had a very strong team out and we still struggled against a team 2 leagues below us !!

Injuries happen , part of the game but perhaps our squad would be stronger if weren't on the manager's 3rd Left back purchase with the first 2 currently out on loan ..

I am willing to lay odds that either of or both Steve Bruce and Brendan Rodgers will be fired before we even consider the remotest possibility of him going.

Wenger may also be added to that list. The Arse fans don't seem to want him any more. I'd be more than willing to take him off their hands. Pay him well and he just might fancy it. I think it was Brian that had the idea of good managers will come to the Villa provided they're paid well. I think he's on to something. Even with our limited budget, there'd be a queue of players wanting to play for him.

We can but dream but something really needs to change and it has to change in the right direction. We've tried sideways and it doesn't work, it's dull.

I'd be more interested in seeing if we've got a training ground of players capable of playing for him.

One of the most pleasing things about O'Neills first season in charge was the vast improvement in results and performances compared to DOL, just to ram all his excuses straight back down his throat.

I can't help but wonder what a coaching setup that emphasised technique and movement could do with a group of players that have shown that they can do it, just not very often.

I'd be amazed if Wenger took another club job. He's getting on, he's well off and he gives the impression that all this is somehow beneath his dignity. I can see him doing a pension top-up in a Gulf state or the Far East, but nothing day to day.

Of course he'd never come, but it would be akin to the GH situation. Every time he took us to the Emirates he'd be genuflecting his way onto the pitch and babbling on about how magnificent Arsenal were and are, and how, in the natural order of things, Villa should be content with finishing top 12. On second thoughts sign him up!

He's been long-rumoured for Real Madrid, PSG or France.

I can see him at either of the latter two at some point for a couple of years before retiring.

That road cone someone mentioned a month ago is still more appealing than Lambert right now.  I'd love to see him turn it around but he's had ample chances and failed every single time, a hopeless enigma.

I'd take Stella McCartney over Paul Lambert.

I'd take a Linda McCartney veggie sausage over Lambert.

I'd take Stella Artois over Lambert.

Stella Artois is compulsory with Lambert!

Actually Lambert is to football what Stella Artois is to good beer.
