Given what he did with Norwich and the bad luck with injuries he has had I know he has done a decent job.

LWT

Unfortunately he's just another one of these Owen Coyle, Phil Brown type jobbers. This is above him.

Absolutely. Premier League history is littered with one season wonders who get found out after a lucky start. Lambert's name can be added to the likes of Coyne, Brown, Jewell, Burley etc etc.

In fairness, you can't deny he did a very good job at Norwich, they were gutted to see him go. I honestly don't think he's a bad manager and I reckon he'd probably go on to do a reasonable job somewhere else unlike the three you mentioned. It's not worked for him here though.

Jewell, Coyne etc all had good records in the lower leagues then had a decent first season at the top only to fade into obscurity. They were found out - a bit like Lambert. The only difference is that we have stupidly kept hold of him when he should have been sacked ages ago.

How as Lambert been "found out"?

He has kept us up for two years, 8million the most spent on one player, and has had his key players plagued with injury.  When he gets his best side playing 7-10 games only then will I judge him.

LWT
So you'll never judge a manager on that note...its a fluke not an expectation to keep your best side together for 7-10 games....would guess we wouldn't have gone through 80-81 with 14 players if the games had been refereed like today.

Question, how many times have you been truly entertained in Lamberts reign? Sunderland 6-1, 20 mins v Man City, 45 mins v Baggies, 45 mins v Liverpool....struggling now....

So that's 9 games in how many seasons? My memory is numbed to how long he has been with us. Sounds good to me though, you have convinced me I have to say

Well, Chelsea away last season we lost so hardly a highlight. Winning away at Reading should be regulation and not a highlight. Southampton away we got absolutely dominated and had 3 shots on target all game and some how won. Not really a good case for someone who's into his third season managing us. You would want to see some sort of progress year-on-year but it looks like more of the same.

Norwich last season was good.
Even then we were pretty awful up until Benteke's moment of magic. The 20 minutes of some of the best stuff we played before we just took our foot off the gas and strolled home.
It'd be nice to get even a good 45 minutes, as opposed to 20 good minutes here and there (if we're lucky).

I was asked what games gave me entertainment, I answered, anyone who went to Chelsea, would have realised how well we played, typical to focus on the result.

I could extend that list if you really want me to.

You'd have got pretty long odds if someone had said while we were fleetingly sat 2nd in the table that a few weeks on we'd be entering the game vs Southampton at home, possibly one point off the bottom three and with pretty much equal the worst GD. What a shit run this has been.

All good wins...most of them were defend, absorb& counter attack...which I maintain is his only tactic so the % of times it's worked is dire!

It it indeed his only tactic that's why when we go behind it's been game over. Lambert is unable to change a game and that's his downfall.

So, you are taking into account at least 3 seasons then?
Bloody hell, your expectations are so low.
With all the 'superfan' stuff you have been spouting, you probably are a 'super fan' as far as the club is concerned.
Not too much for them to do to keep people like you nice and happy.

We're so good that we're where one traditionally finds the good teams - 16th in the league, having scored fewer goals than anyone else except Burnley. Although they've scored twice today so that might have changed. In fact, that has, we've scored fewer goals than anyone in the league - a pathetic five goals.

This being on a run of six defeats and one draw - just the 1 point from 21 - in which we managed to score once.

And this comes after two seasons of finishing 15th.

I'm all for giving managers a chance, but this one has had two and a bit seasons and not proved himself capable of improving us with any consistency in any way whatsoever.

I just don't see how it is possible to believe in this bloke any more given the stunning run of records he has set for shitness. I'm willing to hear any arguments anyone can put forward defending his record, though.

I appreciate we've got new, lowered levels of expectation, but these are formed out of experience more than anything, three years of finishing 15th or 16th, and looking like adding a fourth year.
