Next up Southampton? When Lambert was brought in at Villa, they were a newly promoted side. They are light years ahead of us now. Can you imagine us winning 8 out of 9 scoring 22 goals in the process under Lambert? No chance, I wouldn't back us to do that if we were dropped into the conference for a couple of months. You could give him Ronaldo and Messi and I still think he'd fall short.

I remember jumping for joy when O'Leary was sacked, when Lambert finally goes I will be celebrating like I've won the EuroMillions.

Lambert has a lot to answer for, but do you not thing he'd have done a lot better if:

1. We had cortese rather than Faulkner
2. We had the youth talents Southampton had: chambers instead of clark, shaw instead of baker, ward prowse not gardner, lallana not bannan?
3. He's have been able to afford clyne (he was trying to buy him when we got Lowton)
4. He'd have been able to spend £20m on two players - a midfielder and a forward and £8m on a centre back?

I'm not an apologist, but we have to face up to the fact that the previous two guys did just as badly with a much better squad of players. Lambert had no petrov, collins, dunne. Let alone young and Downing

I think I'd still get rid. But he's hardly had a good hand to play with

You make valid points Matt, but, if what we are hearing is true and I say if, that Lambert has had money but chose not to spend it, then the hand he had might not have been a good one but, the way he chose  to play it was naïve and wrong.  This IMO, makes him culpable.

I'd get rid in the morning BTW.

He is 3rd fav to get the sack in th Prem.

I'm either astonished there are two with better odds, or astonished that he's even in the running given his new deal. I can't decide.

The longer he stays the more the damage. Even the youth teams are taking hidings. No one from the academy has come through as a fixture during his tenure.

When Gerard was manager we took Man U in their pomp to within 8 mins of beating them (2-0 up it ended 2-2) That day we had Hogg, Bannan, Downing, Young, Albrighton in Midfield with Gabby upfront. By my calculations Hogg was the only one who could tackle out of that bunch and due to injuries he was a raw pup.

Today we are happy to hold Man City to 0-0 for 82 mins.

The plug has been pulled. We are in a whirlpool to the Championship.

Had a really nice time today at BMH watching Cam play for Aston Villa U13s v Liverpool U13s. They lost 1-2, but Cam took his goal really well indeed despite getting very little service. The Lambert Way permeates throughout the club. Giving the ball away easily, allowing teams to press with no closing down, weak tackling, no second ball, favourite players, misplaced passes and everything through the middle.

Was it narrow with no width? I hear this is the rule for all teams.

Very. They even reduced the width of the pitch with marker-domes on both sides.

Bookies have higher expectations for the other two clubs.

The future Ray Graydon & Tony Morley RIP. They will be back but not under Lambert's watch.

Protesting. The only way to make the club, media etc, listen. Problem is, there are 10k fewer fans to do it with, cheers for destroying my love for football Lambert and Lerner. He simply has to go. Some of the stats are embarrassing, however, Lambert doesn't do stats does he?

I really can't help thinking that he has a golden ticket with Lerner and just won't be sacked, however crap he has been/is.

We can blame Lambert for lots of things but anyone claiming a) that Benteke's signing was anything other than a masterstroke - our best signing in years and years. £8m for God's sake!; and b) that Bent wasn't a busted flush by the time Lambert arrived, is just plain wrong.
Benteke was a masterstroke but on August 31st 2012 we couldn't have envisioned that he'd turn into the player he did (potentially world class). By the same token most of us didn't envision that Bent, our top scorer from the previous season (in half a season of play) was done for.

In retrospect Lambert got that right, one of the very few things he did. We've seen him wreck players though and Benteke isn't immune.

What Lambert hasn't done though is come remotely close to sorting our midfield and creativity problems that became epidemic having lost Milner, Petrov, Downing and Young within the space of 18 months.

I appreciate we're working on a budget, but 5 windows and nowhere near a solution. It's poor. Aside from Guzan and Benteke I don't think any of Lamberts signings have been up to much. Sanchez looks good and I hope he continues to improve, whilst Kozak was doing okay. But the rest? Mediocre at best. We haven't spent complete peanuts either. We've spent good money on these players. That Lambert came up trumps with a punt on Benteke (a player that McLeish claimed was on our radar were he to stay that summer) doesn't make him a good judge of players either. The man who scouted Benteke left ages ago too.

tomorrow is a great day to sack him. International break gives the club a bit of extra time. Also, I'd relieve Keane of his duties - he isn't the right man to be a manager, and I doubt any new incoming manager would want him there as a number 2.

Time for TSMII to go. Now.
I can't believe how little value Lerner places on protecting his investment...
