it's a good job or we would be struggling to get a handful through the turnstiles if it was

Definitely.  Enjoy the game on the weekend, (regardless of the score)

I actually got soaked to the bone walking up to spurs on Sunday . I was very close to turning back and heading home as my trousers and canvas shoes were sodden. As it was I sat cold and wet through the game , I felt after the game I'd made a mistake and should just have gone home.
Villa did mean everything to me but this last 4 years has killed it off more or less. We need a new owner / manager before it's too late and we are the next Sheffield Weds.

STILL A Fan of Lambert ? WAKE UP to the FACTS : 1. Biggest defeat in premiership history (8-0 chelsea)

2. Worst start to a season since we've been in the premiership (his first season)

3. First manager since we've been in the premiership to have two seasons or more and hasn't achieved a top ten finish

4. Most home defeats in a single season ever

5. Most defeats over a season in our premiership history (20 last season)

6. Most goals let in over a season since we've been in the premiership (over 60 last season)

7. Five defeats in a row without scoring for the first time in our entire history

8. Six defeats in a row for the first time since we've been in the premiership and also beyond (47 years)

9. First manager to lose to a fourth tier side over two legs in a cup semi-final

10. First time we've gone out of cup competitions three years on the spin to lower league opposition?

11. 23 defeats in 36 games the worst run any manager has ever had at this club?
When it's laid bare like this, how can club possibly think he's the right man for the job?

Apparently his ''working conditions'' trump all of these stats. I get the feeling we could be playing in League 2 under Lambert and there'd be still a smattering of fans and pundits saying ''Well, he's had naff-all to spend all these years, what do you expect?".

I really don't get the limited budget comments that people make about Lambert. He has spent enough money in his three years.  Perhaps not as much as has been published but enough to have built a better side than the one he has done. Those stats on Facebook are hideous when laid bare. How the hell has he been rewarded with a new contract with those stats. Absolutely shocking.

I'm not sure he can use the budgetary excuse anymore. We've not spent much but we still managed to get a Colombian international, and a player who featured prominently for Man Utd in the last two seasons (including their title winning send off for Ferguson).
That Lamberts turfed out a load of his signings from the last two seasons either on loan (undoubtedly never to be seen again in most cases) or permanently, suggests that whilst they weren't particularly costly in comparison to your average Prem player, it's still a large accumulation of wasted money that could have been better spent on quality.

You look at what Pulis did at Palace, and suddenly the working conditions excuse just wears a bit thin with Lambert.

Absolute liability, way out of his depth.

I was quite happy for him to have one last chance but he has now had it. I think even the current owner will see sense if we lose the next one or two. The fan base needs a lift from somewhere that's for sure.

The job is just too big for him. Not his fault and he has given it a go with bizarre restrictions (bomb squad etc) imposed but he should in his first season mixed the lower league players with a sprinkling of experience. He has neglected the no 10 position for his tenure much to the detriment of our attacking threat. Ultimately there has been little if any evolution, we still concede plenty of goals, score too few and continue to be eliminated from cups by lower league sides.

We need a change and some invigoration.

Lets stop fucking about here, get rid of this utter chump and bring someone in that can restore some fight and belief. The Villa are decaying badly, the soul has gone from the club, the apathy that surrounds the place is destroying me inside and i'm starting to give less of a shit with every defeat and i adore this club.  If thats Tony Pulis so be it, the real top managers wont be queuing up will they. Its that desperate, Id take John Gregory back to be honest, we all know he's an average manager but at least the bloke understands and has an affiliation with the club. Perhaps bringing a younger coach with him and, look, even Gary Rowett has already proven with the blue shite that you can soon whip up a siege mentality. Just sick and tired of seeing that clueless clown looking perplexed on the bench.

I think you will find when people go on about budget they refer to wages. It has been that which has been dramatically reigned in, transfer fees not so much. Generally though, cheap player also means cheap wage.

Wages have only fallen by £10m from their peak.

Isn't that because Bent, Given and Hutton are still on the wage bill?

I'm pretty sure the players we brought in over the last few years are on significantly less than the players who have left ?

His record is indefensible and inexcusable. Why Lerner/Fox haven't done anything to address this (ie sack him) already defies belief; I cling to the hope that before too long all will become clear and they will pull something out to prove people like me wrong. They really can't be doing nothing...can they?

If you feel like they haven't noticed, you're probably mistaken. They just don't think it's important enough to matter.

One thing that has occurred to me is that Lerner doesn't understand the concept of relegation. Someone should tell him if you finish bottom, you don't stop in the same league.

Nah, just pulling yer leg. Besides, the first bit wouldn't make sense if the second bit was true.
