So, if you don't want Lambert and you don't want Pulis. Who do you want?

To wait for the sale and appoint somebody to fit in with a longer term plan. I agree with Ads in that I think Lambert can keep us in this division, he's done it twice before with a thinner squad, so it's just a question of holding our nerve.

That may well be what happens although bearing in mind Lambert is now into his third season, we shouldn't have to be holding our nerve.

A manager who can improve us whilst getting better results. We all agree Lambert is hopeless. That means there are a lot of managers significantly better than he is. It is the flipside of him being so rubbish.

It's not my job to find that person, though, that falls to Randy.

I don't think it is that simple. Hold our nerve and hope he keeps us up, fair enough.

But then what? If he gets us fifteenth, say, again, that's three fifteen placed finishes and no further evidence beyond points of general improvement.

What do we do then?

I can't be the only one whose nerve left the building months ago

Whoever comes in and dependent on what stage,, in reference to the January window on what funds are made available, we have to be very very careful.
Pulis may have an immediate initial effect, as his main aims would be tighten the back, bypass the midfield and get it to Benteke or Kozak in the box.
As to changing the way the football AVFC plays is seen and we all hope, would be more pretty to watch and effective, that to me where the major problems would begin, to alter a style you have to have a base of fairly intelligent footballers, I just do not think we have enough of those sorts of players in the squad and money that I do not believe would be forthcoming to change enough of them, without selling the remaining family silver.
God what a mess.

I'd say we've only survived the last few seasons as the teams below us have been worse, you can't go on like that forever

Man City only won the league last year because the sides below them were worse.

I don't want Lambert, I gave him the benefit of the doubt for a long time because I thought I could see what he wanted to do with us, but this season has shown that he hasn't learned anything from the 2 years of struggling and I can't support a manager who refuses to learn from his mistakes.

However I'd rather stick with him than go for someone Pulis or Moyes, not because I don't think they could do better this year but because it pushes us further into the stale dinosaur football that we've been largely stuck with for the 15-20years.

What I wrote above, does not mean I want Lambert here, but I think we need to be very very careful how we replace and I have no faith in Lerner to get that right, when he gets so so much wrong.

And the form in 2014 represents an extremely worrying trend. A turn from mediocre to downright awful. I do believe, as things stand, that there'll just about be 3 worse teams than ourselves. However, january and/or managerial changes can change things. There's a danger that fresh impetus elsewhere could leave us behind.

There's no progression with Lambert. Everything seems to point to decline. From 41 points, to 38. A 2014 of atrocious form, and it would seem we're looking like we'll not even manage to match 38 points from last season. That could leave us hoping to survive on around 35 points (if we can reach that).

I also think if we have a couple of solid mid-table finishes we then become a more attractive proposition to buyers, rather than a side that survives by the skin of its teeth every season, getting closer, and closer to the trap door.

I think we have to account for what we can do with the current owner. Until something more solid happens, thinking about where a new owner will take us is just wishful thinking.

And if there's no buyer? Let's face it, nothing's happened since we were put on the market and apparently the owner is interested and focussed again.

Man City don't have the spectre of relegation hanging over them if they're even a tiny bit worse than they were last season.

You probably know as well as I do that Lerner saying he was "interested and focussed" again was PR bullshit designed to keep the fans quiet for a bit and give him a bit of time. Spending £7m in the summer was proof enough he couldn't give a damn.

I dunno, if Toure gets injured I reckon they could get sucked into it...

How long do we (or Randy) wait? when is it too late to change? I hate the thought of Randy selecting the next manager on the basis that he's good to get along with. We get to see all the games over here so i have seen all of the teams play this season and believe that with the players we have we should not be struggling week after week.
