Pulis established Stoke firmly in the Premier League and performed miracles at Palace.  I'd take that for 12 months if it kept us in the Premier League.  Lambert's football is easily the worst in the premier League, and he's managed to string together back-to-back wins the grand sum of three times in the last 3 seasons.  When we did it last season, we then lost 5 and drew 1 afterwards, and this season it's been 6 straight defeats after winning two on the bounce.

I'd back Lambert and the lads to bounce straight back at West Ham.
And beyond.

Pulis would be another McLeish type appointment in that it would divide supporters down the middle. It would be a case of hold your nose and hope for the best but he would get absolutely no leeway and at the first hint of trouble people would be on his back. I also think he'd fail as I just don't see us having the players to suit his brand of anti-football.

I certainly think Pulis would get them organized and appear a more cohesive unit.....we just seem so meek and mentally brittle.

As it stands we are in a terrible run from the back end of last season into this.If we let him to stay and this continues it will take a miracle to turn us around and stay up.

At most id give him 4 games with a min required of 6 points anything less and he should go.

I'm one of the 'give him till Christmas' vote.
I just think that there is something they are working on and although I don't wish to see our club sinking down the division, I thought we were unlucky last match and that with a different ref we would have got all three points. So I want to stick with Lambert and Keane and the players because they are trying to get a system going.

Having said that, I am also one of the voices shouting for a sub 20 minutes before it happens, which proves that I know bugger all about the system they are trying! I just think they need a bit longer to make it gel.

Above all, whisper it, I don't want another bloody manager hunt, which is probably where Randy's at, as well.  Please, Paul, do your stuff. Keep the good times from the beginning of the season going. I am a simple soul. I just want to cheer the Villa, and cheer you.
I hear what you say about not wanting another manager hunt, because Lerner has been so poor at it.
But I also don't see the progress or the 'something they're working on'. Perhaps after 4 games, yes. But it's the fact that they've gone so far backward from the season-opening that is concerning. All the things that frightened us last season have returned. Sunday summed it up: we played reasonably well for large parts but the two goals conceded were horrible - poor defending at a set piece (how often has that been said over the last 3 seasons?!) and a poxy free kick given in a stupid place at a critical time in the game.
As Danny Mills said in the commentary, poor game management.
We lack leadership, a footballing philosophy, a coaching ethos and any sense of footballing intelligence.

At this point in time I'd take a new manager and coaching staff that has real purpose and talent; a distinctive footballing approach that delivers better and more competitive football ... even if it represents a risk.

I'm sorry I really challenge the idea that 'there's something they're working on'. This is Lambert's third season at the club, and other than a spell at the end of his first season we have been diabolical for the most part. There is no suggestion there is any great master plan and he has been afforded a lot more time than many managers.

spot on, the slavish desire to maintain the status quo will do for us. Time to take a risk.

Lambert will keep us in the league anyway. Pulis might get us a few places higher, he might not, but if we're talking about long term solutions to the on field problems; lack of attacking plan, poor home form, ball retention, goals,  etc, then he isn't the answer. Neither is Moyes.

I must admit to thinking Pulis might be the one to steady the ship, reorganise the team, and get some fight back in the club.
But, would he really be a long term manger for Aston Villa? Probably not. I think we would soon be going through manager search process again, pretty quickly.

If we drop in the bottom 3, we wont get out.

Lambert just hasn't got the right mind set at the moment and he is out of his depth.

I honestly thought he was the best we could get when we got him and
Was looking forward to some exciting football , win and lose but he's proved me wrong.

The root cause is Lerner let's be under no illusions.

The problem we have is that any manager will struggle with the financial shackles they'll be in. Pulis might get us winning games, that's all I care about right now, the hope that we might stand a chance, because it doesn't feel that way at the moment.

I think the only way this lot will get any confidence is by winning, they will only keep winning if they go down. It's shit.

I agree that Lerner is the main problem, but surely there's a manager out there who could get more out of these players and the transfer market than Lambert is?
