I'm one of the 'give him till Christmas' vote.
I just think that there is something they are working on and although I don't wish to see our club sinking down the division, I thought we were unlucky last match and that with a different ref we would have got all three points. So I want to stick with Lambert and Keane and the players because they are trying to get a system going.

Having said that, I am also one of the voices shouting for a sub 20 minutes before it happens, which proves that I know bugger all about the system they are trying! I just think they need a bit longer to make it gel.

Above all, whisper it, I don't want another bloody manager hunt, which is probably where Randy's at, as well.  Please, Paul, do your stuff. Keep the good times from the beginning of the season going. I am a simple soul. I just want to cheer the Villa, and cheer you.

How much confidence can a team go out with when they've lost 14 of their last 19 matches? Whatever Lambert or Keane say to get them up for the game, they must think, 'yeah, whatever, let's just get it over with'. Something has to change, but it won't under Lerner.

If we ever reach bed sheets stage, someone should put about ten together and write out the quote when McLeish was sacked - the one about deserving more, compelling football etc.

We see. We understand. We empathise. And we are 6+ matches past that fucking point.

Weimann scored. We were running the match.  Then, we were done up like a kipper.
There are 19 other teams who can all lose points and fall apart between now and the end of the season, so I don't subscribe to having 'lost' anything yet.

I would like to see where we are after the West Brom game on Dec 13..we have had a awful run of games, so i would like to see how we get on against the likes of Burnley and Leicester. The last couple of games have seen an improvement in our performance despite the defeats. If we are still in the bottom 5 after the Baggies game then i think it will be time for a change.

Yes, I see what you're saying, although that will be in 6 matches' time.  I realise that I don't have a strategic view of the Premier League campaign as a whole, or even as bits.  I'm a bit immediate in my vision for Villa.

I would just like to hammer the Hammers.
Oh, yes.

Then, take care of the rest!

I'll consider where we are after the West Brom game when we're there, eotw! Hopefully, at least 6th!

I have seen nothing over the last 12 months to suggest we are or have been working on anything. You could take a 10 minute period of any of our latest games and compare it to any point during last season and it looks the same.

It's strange how different perspectives can be when we're looking at the same thing.
I think we're better. Potentially.

I don't really get this fixation people have with playing lovely, pass and move football.  Yes, its nice to be entertaining, but surely in our position we need to be winning games using any means. If we did chop PL and replaced him with Pulis and then had the sort of run Palace did last season, I doubt too many would be moaning about the style of play.

I agree that he wouldn't be an option long-term, but we have to arrest this malaise and losing mentality.  We need to be tough to beat and for teams to hate playing us.  Once he'd put ourselves in a position where we are steady and secure in mid-table, then you can start thinking about trying to play like Barcelona.  But I want winning football first and foremost.

I don't think you'd get many arguments against playing winning football, LTA.

But that's the point, you can't say he's a great option short term but not long term, because he is not going to go anywhere for a few months, like some sort of temp.

If we did get him short term and he kept us up, then no, this season there wouldn't be many moaning, but there certainly would be in subsequent seasons when we're forced to watch the stinkingly horrible football he gets his teams to play.

What's wrong with the concept of trying to win matches AND play decent football?

And I am using a definition of decent football which does not mean Spain-level tiki taka, but just focusing on the basics, like keeping the ball, passing, showing a little flair.
