I remember contributors to this site calling for MON to be sacked for being too one-dimensional and now there are calls for Pullis to come in and deliver his non-dimensional style to save the day.

I'd take almost anybody right now ahead of Lambert. That's how poor I think he is. I never rated MON but Lambert is like MON without the money. Fucking clueless.

If the option is Keep Lambert or sack him and appoint Pulis then I'd take Pulis .
Last night was the last straw for me, how many times do we have to be humiliated at Villa Park ?
At least that belligerent style offered by him would make the likes of those arrogant bastards sweat and maybe fail to take the piss and even go home depressed disconsolate and frustrated while we could have a few victorious journeys home .
I am absolutely fucking sick of the weak defeat after defeat on our own pitch.
Enough is enough.

Lots of us on here thinking Lambert keeps his job due to new contract or Lerner not being a sacking chairman or just being plain stupid but surely if the run of consecutive defeats hits 8 or 9 Lambert would be gone, he would wouldent he?

I cannot even begin to imagine any reason why Moyes would come to Villa.   We have absolutely nothing to offer him, not even a thumping great wedge of a salary because he can demand that anywhere.   Time for us to face the realities of our situation.   We need a short term appointment to give us a bit of status and self respect back, then try for a top drawer long term manager.   It is never going to happen because it is too easy to muddle through and hope for the best.   Problem is if you hope for the best repeatedly, eventually you get the worst.

I agree.

I want change, but given everything surrounding the club as it stands I think  if the present board attempted to appoint some blue-sky thinking modern manager it would just end it utter disaster, in the Christian Gross/Alan Perrin/Stale Solbakken mould.

Fuck me, I really do think Pulis is our best option, and I honestly never, ever thought I'd think that, but the last 4 years have kicked the shit out of me as a Villa fan.

We're going one way trying to fight the good fight in the modern world, I'm sick of seeing us mugged time and time again, opposition fans having the time of their lives at Villa Park and all whilst we're just expected to fucking 'go again'.

Give it to Pulis, with a fucking mandate to win at any cost.

Moyes isnt getting a top 6 job anytime soon. He could go abroad but doesnt strike me as the sort who would integrate well abroad.

I think he would jump at coming at VP.

We are a big club
We have a half decent squad to work with and hopefully improve
Presumably he would be given some £ to spend
He is working from a low base. The only way is up
He would have time to sort us out, as long as he keeps us up initially.
He has something to prove to the football world and would be driven to succeed.

Where else would he have a similar opportunity?

Get him in pronto

I can just imagine the conversation:

Lerner: "Paul you're officially the worst manager in Villa's long and proud history. I'd like you to take this silver tankard as a momento of achieving such a, let's face it, club record that will probably never be beaten".

A few have tried, El Tel and Bobby Robson at Barca, Hodgson at Inter.

If Southampton got a run on us early on at Villa Park, we cant be far off the orange bedsheet time.

Agreed on the ethnicity of the next manager. Lambert was flavour of the month not too long ago after back to back promotions at Norwich and a solid first season in the top flight. When the trap door is finally pulled on his reign I think he will struggle to get back to a club in the top division.

We have become a graveyard for manager's careers for 20 years plus so I think we would be too much for someone like Eddie Howe at this stage of his career like we were for Lambert. Lets be honest if you were advising the likes of Tuchel or Montella you would be telling them to stay well clear of a club like ours with zero leadership at board level. Lerner like Mike Ashley just wants to club to remain midtable ish so they can try and flog us to a white knight. With that ambition, Lerner would probably be happier with a safe pair of hands ala McLeish, Lambert or a Bruce, Pulis, Moyes or Mark Hughes.

Totally agree. And yeah British managers used to be modern. But the game has moved on and sadly our managers have not yet caught up.

1. I personally wouldn't count on him going even if he managed to beat the 11 on the trot record (which must surely be the only negative record left)
2. By that point (the 8 or 9, not the 11), I would expect this squad to have completely thrown in the towel.

I would never want us to lose, but my nightmare is that Lambert flukes a win against West Ham, which will "reset the clock" as the losing streak will be broken, but we then go another 4 ir 5 games without getting a sniff.  By then it'll be past the point of no return.  Personally I think we're bloody close as it is.

I reckon people thought the same about Graham Turner.

What is Turner doing now? Let's get him and McNeill as a double act to improve our current form.

Yeah, very true. At least we're not Leeds.

Like many others here I am sick of being humiliated, sick to spend for one away game more than for three season tickets without having a satisfaction, sick to see a team that can not keep the ball, sick to see a team that does not defend in the midfield so that our opponents play constantly in our box and before or later it is mathematical that they score.
I would like a manager that can make the team to play football the way it has to be played, with an honest, attacking-minded approach and some tactical knowledge.
In two words I'd like to see at Villa Roberto Mancini (even if I know that he'll never come).

I feel your pain. The never ending home defeats are so hard to take and the sight of away fans celebrating on our pitch is absolutely demoralising.

And we are now 16th

A team that got smashed 8-0 is still able to be ahead of us in the league. The promoted sides and Palace only 4 worse than us.I suspect we will drop into the bottom 3 at weekend.
