Pulis might not play brilliant football, but at least it would be effective.

We have played some of the worst football I've ever seen under Lambert.  It's been turgid, long ball rubbish at times.  Pulis would get us organised and make us hard to beat, and it would be by far the biggest club he's ever been at so ypou would think he would come with a real desire to do well.

I do not deny that and to be fair Crystal Palace played some good football last season, but not sure he is what we want long term

If we could play with wingers like Puncheon and Bolasie I would be delighted. At least they are exciting to watch.

Agree he wouldn't be a long term appointment.  Give him a contract for the rest of this season and the next, and we can reassess where we are after that.  Or even better, show a modicum of ambition and try and bring in someone like Moyes.

Just looking at the fixtures after tomorrow and we've got West Ham, Southampton, Burnley, Leicester, Palace and Albion.  If our poor form continues through those fixtures, then surely even 'Mr Teflon' can't survive that.

We'd have to buy some then, because we haven't got any in our current squad.

Edit - is this what it's come to - wishing we had the likes of Jason Puncheon in our team?

I heard somewhere Inter are after Moyes, he would be my choice and does he not have a good relationship with the chairman.

I wouldn't want Pulis long term if I'm honest.  But I think he could give us a decent foundation.  At least with him he'd be organised and tough to pay against, as opposed to the chaotic rabble we have now.

If we're looking long term, then I'd throw a curved ball into the mix, and thats Paul Clement, who I think has potential as a manager (though unlikely to swap Madrid for Aston).

Problem with Pulis coming in, if he does a half decent job he's going to stay. It was awful under McLeish, it's been horrendous at times under Lambert, but the thought of that baseball cap wearing twat nozzle Pulis as manager of Aston Villa with a 4 year contract in his pocket is the stuff of complete nightmares.

I wouldn't want to replace Lambert with someone like Pulis. What would be the point?

McLeish had us producing eye-bleedingly bad football because that's what he does.
Lambert has us producing eye-bleedingly bad football because he's unable to get us doing anything else.
Pulls would make us run around more and maybe get better results, but we'd be stuck with a manager whose ethos is eye-bleedingly bad football AND horrific gamesmanship

No ta.

Let's bin Lambert but let's not replace him by more of the fucking same.

This club needs to feel the effect of utter turmoil from top to bottom, everything needs to change. Lambert not working out is not because we didn't need that change, it is because Lambert has proved himself to be utterly not up to it.

We still need that change, appointing Pulis would be just another step backwards.

Plus, I'd rather pull my own head clean off my shoulders than see an Aston Villa manager on the touchline in shell suit and baseball cap, chewing gum, like a minor member of the Soprano crew.

I genuinely think there is pretty much zero chance of Lerner sacking Moyes, but the one, single tiny, tiny glimmer of hope for him getting rid of him comes from the fact that Lerner clearly loves Moyes and tried to get him to come here twice, and Moyes is available and looking to get back into the game.

He wouldn't be my choice, but if it were a decision between Moyes or another two seasons of this utter shit under Lambert, I know which I'd opt for.

If Lambert did go this season I want us to do something different. I want us getting away from boring and predictable playing style managers that we've had for yonks now.

What a great shout. Apparently he was interested in the Brighton job a while back, so perhaps wants a managers job. Heard him on talksport the other day and talked sense and didnt seem a grumpy fecker. Didnt realise he was Dave Clements son (the ex QPR right back who I have just found out committed suicide)

There's a few stories doing the rounds that Clement is going to replace Wenger at Arsenal so we may have missed the boat.

Isn't it one rumour that boils down to Wenger supposedly giving the green light to Clement taking over at the end of 2015/16 season?

Get him in and maybe we can get some favours from Real Madrid as we play a similar style of football.
