im drinking with my mates down digbeth tonight, so we'll be going over all this stuff again and again, the life of a Villa fan is hard.

shlerp

enjoy your beers.

There should be a few Noses around there tonight you can have some banter with.

Things are hard at Villa but we are not as shit as they are.

I had a dream last night that we sacked Lambert and replaced him with Thomas Tuchel from Mainz.

Unfortunately I woke up.

He left Mainz at the end of last season. Think he's taking a year off anyway.

Lambert on SSN this evening:

"look at the match against Everton, we had so many attacking players on the pitch ... and we just let them go and express themselves . and try and score and we had loads of shooting practise, you saw yesterday (referring to open training session) .. the crossing and the finishing, goals raining in"

Honestly, he's fucking clueless. He just thinks "put attacking players on the pitch" = "score loads of goals". "goals raining in in training" = "goals going in in matches"

I am more and more convinced that this bloke is an absolute fucking chancer, he has no idea what he is doing.

I really think we are just going to get worse under him.

If that was Pardew or Allardyce saying that, I'd be laughing my head off. The fact that it's the manager of the cub I support saying those things is just depressing.

This is why I'm convinced Benteke is gonna be one of the best strikers in the world in a few years. Look what he's managed to do with this clown in charge and imagine what he could do with a competent manager.

Lambert's new 4 year contract is only beaten by the appointment of his predecessor in terms of stupidity.
Quote
I put them on a par. Both ludicrous and inexplicable.

I'm actually starting to think Lambert is worse than TSM, which I wouldn't have thought possible. The quote when TSM was sacked was something about needing more compelling football.  I've never felt less like watching Villa play than I do now.  We're not just embarrassingly bad, we don't even seem to be trying to do anything creative.  Be careful what you wish for though -  If Lerner's track record is anything to go by Lambert's replacement could well be one of Gary Megson or Brian Laws.

Is Lambert worse than McLeish? I'm gonna say no. McLeish almost got us relegated with a relatively decent squad because a lack of trying to win games. Lambert shows a different kind of ineptude, but has performed better given the conditions.

Does Lambert really think that we will score more if he puts more attacking players on the pitch, or if we score more in training? Probably not. My guess is that he tries to argue that the lack of goals isn't due to a lack of trying or a negative mindset on his behalf.

I'm not saying that Lambert is a great manager. But to imply that he is a mindless clown who understand less about football than an average person with more than a passing interest in football, is to overstate the case.

Based on the quote above from Paulie, TSMII is either right - and we will give the mother of all thumpings to one of our next 2-3 opponents; or, we will continue to bob along under his naive tactics.
At the moment, it has to be the latter that is more likely.
TSMII - of whom I was a supporter when he came in - is a dead man walking in every respect other than the issue of ownership and the apparent disinclination of the chairman to upset the applecart at this time.

The problem isn't the lack of forwards its the complete lack of creativity and quality on the ball in the final third

I wonder where Lambert will go after villa.  It's usually a good barometer of a player or managers place in the football world.  I say he'd disappear a la O Leary.  Or Scotland.

He's more akin to someone playing Championship manager. Starts with a team and in the lower league and a formation and it works, a bigger club comes in and off you go and the formation works again. You get the offer of a job at a prem Club and can't see how your formation can't go wrong. But it does. You try the off other formation but default to the one that has always been successful but can't fathom out why it just doesn't work.

Paul Lambert is void of any creativity. Records being broken all over the place. TSM or Lambert? Does it matter? Both diabolical in their own way. Lambert can try to spin the positives as hard as he likes but not one Villa fan is fooled. Tactically inept, he wouldn't know what a creative player was if it shat on his head. Lord save us, no more of this shit, Lambert out.

Winning the game tomorrow would obviously be great. The problem under Lambert is that we've never kicked on after a good result. We have a couple of decent results then go on to lose three or four on the trot.
