in hindsight I think the protest against  McClaren was what did for it. Randy bowed to fan power and pulled the plug on Dutch Steve when he was his number one choice. He's never forgiven himself, or the fans, for doing so, and that set him on this bewildering, freewheeling managerial misadventure - starting  with the dickey ticker, scaling the heights of hubris and disrespect with TSM, flirting with another of SAF's acolytes, and a Spaniard, before finally alighting on TSM2. It's certainly been a long, strange trip.

Scuttlebutt is that McLaren fucked his interview up, fan pressure had little, if anything, to do with it.

Remember when we were all convinced last season's final game against Spurs would be Lambert's last game in charge?  Seems strange to think back on that now.
We didn't score in that game either (0-3) or the game before (0-4).
So it's 4 goals in the last 12 competitive games. Incredulous he is still our manager.

We scored 4 in 14 league games under BFR.

I thought McClaren messed up the interview in 2011, not pre Houllier. I can't see it being Randy bowing to fan pressue as he didn't mind a couple of wees later.

Most of rest is right though. After Houllier didn't he try and recruit Bentiez to work under Financial Constraints. Like he was going to do that. No point interviewing him - a non starter. Maybe we wanted him to finish Dicky Ticker's Anfield love-in.

Correct. Schteve was interviewed after Houllier had gone. The fan pressure thing if thought about logically is a load of tosh. Owner listens to fans and doesn't appoint a certain manager. He then appoints one that is going to be significantly less popular. As daft as Randy seems at times, that is stretching things a bit too far.

never let chronological facts get in the way! apologies for that but some of the rest was true and actually I find it quite hard to believe that anyone could fuck up an interview with Randy given his  lack of critical judgement.

Schteve did the entire interview in a really poor Brummie accent so I heard.

I'm sure it's well documented ( and from the horses mouth) that the interview was set up and then never took place.
