The only thing slightly putting me off Moyes is that's it's possibly more of the same, another dour Scotsman. Don't get me wrong, i've nothing against the Scottish at all and he'd probably do a better job than Lambert but I see what Southampton have tried to do. They could have played safe when Pochettino (or whatever his name is) left but they brought Koeman in and they're playing some good stuff. Maybe we should try a different approach next time.

Didn't Eastie plug Koeman

Also our continental excursions haven't been roaring successes

Whereas our British ventures have produced nothing but joy and wonder and memories to tell the grandkids.

They don't have to be European, they just have to be good.

In fairness, there's only been Venglos and Houiller and Venglos was nearly 25 years ago.

I'm not diagreeing with either of you.

I want Lambert gone but I'm not sure we have anyone at the club who can pick a decent non British manager.

Pullis and Moyes could do a job. I dount it would be pretty but it would prettier and more effective than the current clown in chagrge.

Venglos was an imaginative punt at the time. Didn't work.

I wouldn't want to be stuck with Moyes. He looks to me like a manager whose ideas are on the way out, and got through the last five years at Everton by sheer stability (a very underrated thing). However, in the age of the Pochettino and the Rodgers, I don't think there's any excuse for Villa to just keep employing managers who learned their tactics in the f***ing SPL, every time, over and over again. Is there nobody more interesting in the world?
Be careful what you wish for.. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer...Di Canio...

That's an easy enough argument to counter, though .. Lambert, McLeish, O'Leary (to take one approach) or Pochettino, Koeman, whicheverothersuccessfuleuropeanmanager (to take the other one).

I don't care where the next manager comes from, so long as he knows his stuff, knows the modern game and will be able to get us playing decently.

We thought we were getting that with Lambert. It clearly hasn't worked out, to put it lightly.

The Mail haven't got the balls to do anything like that anymore.

We're not in a crisis until they show the badge split in half.

Completely agree. No more British/Irish managers please. Of course it doesn't matter. Lambert is going nowhere. Lerner will not push him even if he loses every game through November. Maybe, just maybe if we are rooted tot he bottom come January he would do something.

But lets hope we are not in that position. My first priority is not getting rid of Lambert, its Villa winning more games.
