I'm in the optimistic camp too. I think you have to give him a lot  of credit as it would have been very easy to walk away over the summer given the terrible end to the season, no real money to spend and the club being put up for sale.

Lambert has made some big mistakes but it's often forgotten that he is a relatively young and inexperienced manager. I hope he has learnt from the previous couple of seasons and we see the benefit of sticking with him this year.
This.

I think he's genuinely made mistakes and has been pretty brave and very open in his efforts to put things right.
Early days but I'd rather have 10 points than 2 like they who know wot they are!

I think Keane was his call, and I don't think Keane would work as a number 1. I get the impression it is much more of a double act than a Lambert led autocratic system.

This summer though he clearly took stock, and addresses most of the massively obvious problems. Apart from a creative midfielder.

And signing Samba. *treble winky*

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!
I'd take Samba over Cahill every day of the week.

Whatever has changed it's working. Karsa and Culverhouse strike me as the issue . The players seem happier now them are gone.

Difference is I didn't then spend ages afterwards denying I said it or trying to make out I meant something else. At the time i'd have taken Samba over Cahill which is why I said it. So not too sure what point you're trying to make.

You wouldn't give Lambert a new contract though, would ya?

I don't think 'top clubs' (unless you class Celtic as a top club) will be lining up for him so I don't see why we can't just make a balanced decision around the turn of the year. Given his record at the club I wouldn't imagine he would expect anything other than that.

By the New Year we should have a better idea if he deserves one or not. Same could be said for Hutton. It's been a great start but it's still hard to judge long term based on 4 games.
Then again we will be 10 points clear at the top by then so Lambert will off to Dortmund next summer anyway.

Home form will be key for me.  Not just the actual results, but how we shape up.

Do we go for it?  Or still try to sit back and counter at VP -even against modest opposition.

We pulled a few fluke results out of the bag last season with less than 30% possession, and that was during one of the worst seasons most of us have had to endure.

I don't think Lambert is any sort of solution long-term, but I have been impressed with the business we have done with just a £7 million spend.

He's kept us waiting for two years for anything remotely resembling putting a decent football side together.  No harm in keeping him waiting just a little bit longer to see how all of this plays out.

Fulham have spent more on one player than Lambert has spent in total this season, in fact the most he has spent on one player Benteke) is still less than what they paid for McCormack.

I have stood by PL from day one and taken a load of abuse for it.  Whilst things have been tough and the home form hard to tolerate, I have always believed in him, I go to a lot of away games so maybe took some of the hardship from my perspective.

I still believe he worked miracles keeping us up for those two years, much more is still to do however.

well done Paul.

I would if we carry on like this.
