we seriously could go down

Leicester have money .Sunderland will be better . Palace will be ok

Its us , Hull , Baggies , Burnley , QPR/Derby  in the mix .   Depends who baggies get of course
Leicester having money doesn't make them safe. Nor are Palace suddenly an established Premier League team all of a sudden.

what was Palaces form in the last four mths , alot better than ours , No money doesnt make you safe , but Leicester are not going to be easy relegation fodder , in fact Pearson is a good manager
Their form in the last four months and how it compared to us doesn't mean that they won't be at risk of going down next year. Leicester might not be easy relegation fodder, but nor are they out of the relegation equation three months before the new season begins.

Cardiff had someone who was thought of as a good manager, they spent £50m since they were promoted and still finished bottom. It could just as easily happen to Leicester.

So lambert stays. He will surely get min £20m to spend , that's 3 decent players plus the return of Okore , Zog and then Kozak and then Benteke.
Assuming nobody decent leaves (Guzan Delph vlaar ) we can be top 10, if we can keep the big players fit we will be fine .

Seriously, who would trust Lambert with money? Apart from the lower league clubs' chairmen obviously

I would. When he's spent decent sums he's generally got it right, spectacularly in Benteke's case. I'd say that has been one of his strengths to be honest, albeit I'm a bit worried that Karsa was the brains behind the scouting rather than lambert.

£20m would get us three decent players. Add a loan or two and we should hopefully have enough to avoid relegation, with some luck, mid table safety.

Seriously,  if Lambert was sacked who do think would take the job knowing we're for sale, it's likely there's no money and you'll job will be under threat if a takeover happens?

Can see the logic but Christ that's depressing news.

Have they really announced the club is up for sale without a buyer ready and waiting?

It would appear so yes. Remember this is Randy Lerner we are talking about here. A man notorious for making poor decisions.

I would too, I agree his targets who might cost a bit have been pretty good. Its the shopping for bargains where it has been really hit and miss. But saying that when you buy a player with such a low fee and wage you are only going to find a gem once in a while.

More than once in that interview, he started saying "if the club's sold in the next week, few weeks" then added months, year, as if he realised he was saying too much.

Just had a private twitter message chat with a journo who spoke with PL for a piece in a local paper (not mentioning his name) but he just said PL kept speaking about the takeover as not far away, I know on the radio he said could be a week or 6 months, but this journo was definitely under the impression PL knew a lot more then he was letting on. I'm no bullshitter or ITK one bit, Legion can confirm that about me, just telling what he told me.

The talk is adding quality not quantity today , does not seem that simple to me giving how we ended season.

Neither LB looks up for it so need another

Both Target men are injured though Kozak should return for the season start he is no CB so with Helenuis told to go and Holt gone will he once again be after a striker ?

Albrighton off with no fee , N'zogbia and Tonev looking surplus to requirements he needs to bring creativity width in or rely on promoting Grealish

CB alot resting on Okore as clearly Baker/Clark are not good enough. So idealy need another

Thats just playing staff , backroom wise will Given remain as coach , does Cowans ideally want to stay with first team.I can see why Lambert nas been retained but equally him stayin with no backroom and trusting him with funds seems equally a gamble.

It would appear so yes. Remember this is Randy Lerner we are talking about here. A man notorious for making poor decisions.

At the time, I couldn't believe Randy would have made such a statement without having a buyer lined up.

It now appears we don't. Sorry, don't buy this "he had to say something" line.  He's said nothing for years so why the openness now (as has been said, we're a few hundred people in a chat room) and its terrible for ST sales (if hes still bothered with that sort of thing).

Now we find a club in need of a major overhaul instead in a holding pattern that could go on and on well into next season. I'm not fussed we've heard nothing yet BUT if we've not been sold by the end of August this will be another in the increasingly long roll call of Lerner fuck ups.

I think you are right.

And I think it is the unlikelihood of him fucking it up so totally that makes me think maybe something really is afoot

I've been trying to think who Lerner reminds me of , it's a quiet version of Louis Winthorpe III

And I think we'd have a lot more fun with Billy Ray Valentine.
