As much as it's idiotic to claim that PF knows nothing about a potential takeover, it's equally unlikely that Lambert knew nothing about the antics of his assistants.

I would agree, especially as Villa is not the first club that Culverhouse & Karsa operated in this manner.

I'm not so sure, I think they fucked him over and he's cut his ties, or else he'd have gone with them.

Me too, hence Lerner's comment about 'loyalty', when it came to the crunch he didn't let sentiment get in the way of doing the right thing.

Just watched the bizarre press conference.

I think Paul Lambert is very tired and battered. I really hope he is just flat out lying to the press (and I am always fine with that) when he says he does not know what Randy will say, because if he doesnt know it reflects very badly on Lerner.

Lambert will be glued to his seat in the dugout tomorrow with a disinterested look on his face.

I just cannot see him lasting the week. The season, the shambles with his backroom staff (and ultimately, it's under his watch). I think the only reason he didn't go already was so we didn't rock the boat any more. Sacking managers didn't help any the 3 relegated sides. It did work for Palace and Sunderland of course, but they did it early enough to make a difference.

Lambert will see us out and then probably get turfed within a week, regardless of what happens with other matters. I think even Lambert himself is probably fed up having to work in these constraints too. If we get taken over a new manager will come with new ownership anyway.

I'll have the same look, but I'll be standing up and quite probably inebriated

Just watched last seasons video of the Villa, if any of you Villans out there are feeling sorry for Lambert DONT !!! he could be with us for ages and still would not know how to plug a leaking defence even if Learner gave him oodles of cash, the bloke has been so lucky that villa have not gone down this year or last

Even some of our worst managers have provided something positive  for us to recall - with Lambert it is predominently unhappy memories - in particular some of the club records he has managed to shatter. The cup exits have been embarassing, the home performances abysmal (in the main) and the post match interviews almost impossible to understand or comprehend - and that is not a knock at his broad accent, just the content of his monologues.
It is with much trepidation I await an announcement from the club in relation to its future.

To be fair to Lambert, he has left us some decent memories too - the run in last season, the wins at Anfield, the Emirates, being Man City and Chelsea

The problem has been that he blew it this season.

I saw that stat about us playing more long balls than anyone else this season, and wonder what happened to move us from the determination to try to pay decent stuff if last season (even if the results were poor) to the hoofing of this year

it's all a bit history repeating at the moment. TSM 1 was linked with a swoop for that soccer titan Karl Henry just before being given the heave-ho. Now Lambert is apparently plotting a move for the return to VP of the colossus that is Steve Sidwell. Let's hope this is true, and by tomorrow afternoon, he's tweeting Stan C with TSM's immortal 'Time's up big man'.

Sidwell will be linked with any mid to lower table side now, he has scored 8-9 league goals from midfield and been Fulham's best player all season, so hardly a shock he will get linked. Plus he would be pretty low cost. If the takeover proves to be fanciful and we are looking at cheap buys still, he might actually not be a bad one.

Will today be a McLeish at Norwich affair for him I wonder? In which case will we be asking for Tim Sherwood??

More effective player at this level than Westwood and KEA to be fair.
That said, if we've got a bit to spend I'd want more ambition. If we're still on a budget then we could probably do worse, as long as we're sensible about what sort of contract he has.
