He said Albrighton and Gabby being out as well as the other injuries made it tough. He also said Aston Villa have to strengthen hugely this summer.

I can't explain why, but there's still abit of me that would like to see him with some backing to add some quality to help some of these better youngsters grow.

The big problem there, Duncan, is Lambert isn't the right man to develop the youngsters. I hope we can over the summer find a man that can. There's nothing much worse than seeing talent wasted.

It really doesn't matter if they replace Lambert but do not change the transfer policy.

We'll maybe do a bit better, but under this regime we are only ever going to be bottom feeders.

Ha! Lambert's problem hasn't been the wage restrictions, it's been the lack of trading he's been able to do. Despite having more money to spend than most, he hasn't been able to sell anybody for more than a bag of washers. The are plenty of decent players out there that are within our wage structure, we just haven't had the additional trading revenue to buy them.

Looking at the current squad, there's still noy many that would bring in more than a couple of a million. We've failed to develop them. Development was an integral part of the 'plan' that would have allowed us to trade. Dumping the Bomb Squad didn't help either. It's all been poorly managed and the responsibility lies firmly at the door of Lambert.

He actually spoke some truths in the end and certainly had the look of a man who will not be in charge of Aston Villa in 7 days time.

We still have the eighth highest wage bill in the league. Such a misuse of money exacerbated by the stupid bomb squad policy making it nigh on impossible to bin the high earners. Why couldn't he have featured Bent and Hutton and Zog and Given just a bit more to at least make them sellable?

We must have the most horrendous transfer record of the 2010's of any club in Europe in terms of hits to misses ratio relative to purchasing power. Coupled with the already bloated squad needing to be culled in summer '10 causing that selfish little gobshite to walk out on us and you've got the perfect storm for prolonged dross. And pricks like Joe Lovejoy moaning at us for moaning can frickin' do one.

After two seasons, he still hasn't managed to get the 3-5-2 system working and it has failed pretty much every time we have used it.  I have never played or coached the game professionally, but even I can see that having 3 centre backs marking one player, while the wing backs are pushed back and constantly left 2v1 is inviting trouble.  Needless to say their first two goals came from exactly those kind of situations.  Clark wandering off inside for the first goal leaving Bertrand to try and recover his position is an example of just one of players who constantly makes bad decisions and mistakes week in week out.

The fact that Toure seemed to have a forcefield around him for the last 10 minutes which stopped any of our players getting near him didn't help either!!

I think Lambert is the problem. Wrong man, wrong, place, wrong time. I don't think our players are any worse than any other club below Southampton. He's a wet blanket who just doesn't instill confidence so they do not achieve what they are capable of.

I think Lerner is the real problem. I actually feel sorry for Lambert that it hasn't worked out. Sure he has made some mistakes but it's been like competing in a Formula 1 race with the hand brake on with Lerner theses last few years.

Chopping and changing managers won't make any difference with the current regime in charge.

I give you Pulis and Palace. That Palace squad is in no way better than ours but Pulis (leaving aside style) has a bit about him and he's made them pretty effective. With Lambert, I just want to grab him by the lapels and tell him to stand straight, shoulders back and look forward. He's an atmosphere hoover.

Tactically has not got a clue and because of that finds it very hard to change things quickly enough on the pitch if they are not working, coaching wise, take a player like Bertrand, he appears to have gone backwards since coming here and I know a lot of others on here have stated that other players seem to have regressed since last season, even if he has not been involved directly in the coaching it is his responsibility and for that he has been negligent and should therefore go, thanks Lambert but no thanks.

I`m convinced that if Lerners going to sell the club - as seems increasingly likely, he wont be the one to fire Lambert, it just wouldnt make financial sense. If he did before he sold up, he would have to pay up the rest of Lamberts contract which would cost him several millioin, if Lambert went to a tribunal (remember MON), the legal case would be hanging over the club for months, the buyers accountants, when they do the due dilligence on the club, will see that as a potential debt liability and factor it into the price the seller (Lerner) gets, again costing him money. No - Lambert stays i`m afraid, at least for the time being.

Despite feeling sorry for him, I think his leadership qualities are really weak.

Having a nervous wreck of a manager on the touchline will inevitably rub off onto the younger players and probably lose respect of the experienced ones
