Back to Lambert . . .

If he goes, who do people want. Assuming we don't have some oligarch or richest man in the world type in charge, I think many of the main candidates are concerning: pulis (style concerns), pardew, Clarke, Lennon, allardyce.

I still think Moyes might want to return a bit higher up. Otherwise we're looking at unproven at this level (rosler?) or abroad which is always a risk.

I know most people want Lerner and lambert to go, and not without reason. But there are some pretty big risks on both sides there.

Is there not a continental Moyes, who would be cheaper in wages, equally frugal with his spending, but more sophisticated with his coaching methods and playing style?

Its totally irrelevant what happens in the next two games, we need a total change, preferably from top to bottom.
However Lambert should follow his coaches, who he brought to the club, when they get sacked!

Guzan is comfortably one of the best keepers in the league.

He is an excellent shot stopper, communicator and he dominates his penalty area. His kicking and distribution of late has resembled a bit of the Bosnich, but it doesn't alter the fact that Guzan is comfortably a top 6 goal keeper and the best keeper we have had since the brilliant Aussie.

And he hasn't reached his peak yet and won't for another few years.

Correct - he is an excellent keeper. If he wasn't we would already be down.

Do you honestly think that the people who have approaching zero football knowledge and who will be chosing the manager would have the wit or the imagination to be able to recruit someone of that ilk?

I don't.

Lambert's time is up, that is for sure. I fear the alternative selection with equanimity.

I think Randy's always wanted Moyes on board and who knows, if he stays or goes it might happen

Added to that, I'd also like to see someone with a proven track record of bringing young talent through a club.

I think Lambert has done pretty well given the financial constraints. If someone new comes in they need to be prepared to spend. I struggle to think of a manager who would be prepared to come to us under the current financial constraints and do better than Lambert.

I disagree. We've lost 20 games this season. That's not 'pretty well'.

Crikey. Really?

Don't get me wrong, I was fully in his camp this time last year, but he has made some horrendous mistakes this season.

His biggest one was quite possibly allowing that Culverhouse Karsa BMH thing to get so out of control. Training the players in long ball tactics? Either they did that without Lambert's knowledge - reflects badly on Lambert. Or with his knowledge - reflects badly on Lambert.

It's hard not to think he was asleep at the wheel on that one.

Lost more home league games than at any point in the last 140 years.

140 years.

The stark unvarnished truth told by the tables is that Lambert is as bad a manager as McLeish.   Even if you dismiss the numbers, I have seen over half of all the games under their stewardship and it has felt every bit as piss poor for the last two seasons as it was in the two previous ones.
