Thing is Baker cost us 3 goals against Stoke and 3 against Swansea, he is becoming a real liability and needs to be dropped.

I was gutted when Baker didn't get sent off against Swansea. He could do with sitting it out this Saturday.

The problem is that, when he played against Palace, Clark looked just as bad.

I don't think Clark is great at all, but Baker is worse.

Vlaar is not that good either.

We used to have good centre-backs.  How I miss Zat Knight.

Vlaar is at least Premier League standard, the other two aren't.

Watch Vlaar in the world cup. When surrounded by players of equal or better quality I honestly see him easily making it at the next level and wouldnt be surprised to see bids coming in from Arsenal/Everton/Spurs level clubs for him. It takes a player of immense quality such as Laursen to excel when surrounded by substantially weaker players.

I agree Vlaar is a good player, he's one of the few in our squad who are good enough to start regularly in the top flight.

Once he has a defensive partner he doesn't have to babysit he will be even better.

I like Vlaar but he's okay nothing more. He's a mid-table level player. I don't see a Champs League club coming in for him, unless it's a lesser nation, or return to Dutch football. Dunne at the top of his game was just as good. Mellberg and Laursen were much better. I don't think we'll have to worry about big clubs poaching him after the world cup. Plus at his age and injury records, if he was to be sold it would be on our terms I think.
This is our level though. Aside from Guzan and Benteke who are both excellent players, our best players are decent, nothing more.

However Palace being the same standard as Stoke and Swansea didn't put 4 past us. So by that measure a bad Clark is nowhere near as bad as a bad Baker. (I am sure there is a joke in here other than our defence!)

And Vlaar is only OK. He may look better with better players but he is no Olof or Martin.

I don't min Baker but he's not playing with a lot of confidence at the moment so i'd either put Clark in there as well as part of a back five or drop him to the bench.

I think a back 5 at home against Hull would send completely the wrong message to the team and the fans. If we're going to get out of this slump a positive team needs to be playing on Saturday.
