Sorry but I have zero sympathy for Lambert.
Spot on. Plus he's fed us shit for two years then contradicts himself.
When we were grinding out results but poor performances and stats, lambert was bleating on about how results only matter, well now were getting zero results and being battered, he's suddenly on about good spells of play/possession and being unlucky.
The man has in 2 years broken almost every terrible record.
Only this seasons he's overseen our Worst home record ever, most defeats in a season and his personal favourite of us getting dumped out a cup by lower league opposition.
I know he's not the only problem but by god he is certainly a huge factor.
He can't go quick enough for me

Agree with every word of that.

Lambert isn't good enough to work at a club this size under constraints. If it were a Wigan, he'd be getting commended for having them out of the relegation zone, but we aren't a Wigan and expect more than season after season of just avoiding relegation. That would be his level ,we are at least 1 step above it.

A club where every single piddling point is celebrated like a cup victory would be more his level, a 0-0 at home against Southampton, South fucking Hampton would be cherished as another battling display on the way to the promised land of 38pts. It used to be 40pts but we're too shit even for that anymore.

You might be right, but I think the way we are structured as a club at the moment pretty much assures us of a bottom half finish and with a couple of serious injuries puts us in danger of relegation.

Lerner said it unequivocally in the week, Lambert is working to his instructions. If we had kept key players fit we would probably be in a comfortable mid table position but the enforced policy of buying only players who do not demand high wages means we have little resilience in the squad. As has been clearly demonstrated in recent weeks, it is a strategy fraught with risk and unless it changes one that will inevitably eventually takes us down.

If the instructions are for the club to be self financing then we shouldn't be where we are and Lambert has to be to blame.

As Chris said, the low wage strategy is a mentally reckless one to follow, as we are seeing. If it goes on, we will be relegated eventually.

Having said that, Lambert has carried out his part of the deal abysmally.

Lerner, Lambert, Faulkner, all of them, just not up to it, and the sooner they are gone, the sooner we can start to have some hope again. If Lerner stays, though, and persists with this strategy, if we don't go down this season, we will do soon enough.

Sorry but I have zero sympathy for Lambert.

It's not a question of sympathy it is looking at the thing as a whole. I honestly can't see anything much changing unless the philosophy at the club changes. To my mind Lambert is a symptom rather than a cause. His record probably means he will take the blame but if we continue with the current policy all that will be different is some other bugger will be getting stick this time next year.

Lambert's not good enough, but neither is anything at the club right now. His sacking is necessary but not sufficient.

As a fan of Lambert's approach to his time under Lerner it is sad that he has not really been able to spend more on players. Yes, there have been £7m signings but they would have been on low(ish) wages so not really a sign of splashing money around. Lerner gave him a challenge and one that up until Stoke all would have said that we have been largely poor but ended up in mid-table where we thought we would have been this season.

But the last 6 games have been unbelievable. Totally out of our depth and 5 losses and one draw, shipping 4 3 times, losing to teams around us, suspending backroom staff, talk of dressing room strife, Lerner's strange announcement about no announcement until the summer, Given being promoted to a kind of assistant after being dumped, Lerner praising Lambert, etc etc it's all imploded. No-one seems to know what to do or how to get us out of the situation.

Lambert won't be sacked that much is pretty certain. At least not until we know about any possible ownership change. Nor would I particularly want it now. Given and Cowans? I can't seeing the players rrsonding any more to them and in this time of bizarre goings on and major upheaval, the last thing we need now is to have the players more unsettled and more confused about off the field activities.

I'd leave things as they are. But, come the summer, I'm more concerned about who is owning the club because even if Lambert were to be sacked I wouldn't expect Lerner to put us in any better shape with his and Faulkner's recruitment decisions. Ever since he came here its is one bad financial decision after another and one-by-one his board appointees have gone. He's left with a CEO that is thankful to be appointed above his ability suggests he deserves and no other noticeable board members who have said anything or shown their faces, never mind whether they have got anything to say or not.

I don't trust Lerner to get the next major decision right and despite what I think are his genuine best intentions. He has to go. The Lambert decision will look after itself thereafter. One way or another.

Spot on Pete.

Yep.

Agreed.

I don't trust Nero or any of his compadres to move our football club further forward.

Sorry but even on a relatively small budget Lambert has massively under achieved and not performed to the minimum level . See we've been losing to crap lower level teams too during his tenure - Bradford, Millwall, Sheff Utd, Forest played us off the park pre-season. Now we are getting battered by the likes of Stoke Swansea and Fulham! Palace did the double over us FFS !
Lambert had dire tactics , cannot change a game around when he needs to do, signs awful players that we don't need , and as for the shambles that has been  Bodymoor Heath and the tails of bullying and hoof ball tactics ? Well where the fuck was the manager of our club whilst this was all going on ??
Lambert is a disgrace and i cannot wait for him to get his ticket.

When you struggle against the likes of Bradford over two legs , Sheff Utd and Millwall , you know the manager is not good enough . People will say hes not had that much money to spend , well he should be beating these teams with what he has.

Hes had three left backs , ffs .    He buys in areas  where we need players desperately in other areas . He cant sub , his tactics are terrible and his formations , oh dear.  He should have gone after the Sheffield game .  I even think we have been lucky in some of the wins .

It feels the worse time I have known it has a Villa fan at the moment and I have seen some shite teams over the years . We just have not got the players to get us out of the sinking sand , they are a really poor lot .

Can we ask the Swansea City board to appoint our next manager, they seem to have a decent track record.

I think the worst case scenario might play out  next season should we stay up. Randy announces he's actively looking to sell but has no buyer yet. He keeps Mumbles and gives him £25m instead of £20m. The rest is easy.
