Well my impression of the story was that Lambert backed his man at the time, hence Gabby and Delph not playing. It's hard to imagine them being unavailable if an attempt at conciliation and reconciliation had been made.

If that's the case then firstly he's nuts as our midfield without Delph is dire and secondly then it's game over for him.

They may have subsequently made it up, and this could even be part of that process. At the time, though, it wouldn't follow the logic of known events for Lambert to have supported Sid, Delph and Gabby against Culverhouse.

From the OS:

The Club can confirm that Gordon Cowans and Shay Given have been temporarily promoted to assist manager Paul Lambert and his first team coaching staff.

Paul Lambert said: "I'm delighted to have Gordon and Shay to assist me in preparing the team for Saturday which is what the whole group is focussed on."

Gordon Cowans said: "The manager has asked me to step up to assist him at this time and I'll do my utmost for the Club and the manager in helping prepare the team for Saturday's game against Southampton."

Shay Given said: "As players, it's important that each and every one of us take responsibility right now and I'm delighted to play my part in helping the manager and the team go and try to win on Saturday."

The Club can also confirm in response to media speculation that Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa have been suspended pending an internal investigation.

Having met Shay a few times, I'd be reasonably confident enough to say he's a good guy. Very popular with most of the players too, so in that sense the decision has logic to it. Whether that translates to actually being a good coach remains to be seen.

GK is a specialist position, and not many former GK's make good managers or outfield coaches.

As for Culverhouse and Karsa, could the vacancy at Norwich have anything to do with it?

Karsa's remit is transfers, so hopefully nothing dodgy there (or no more dodgy than some of the third rate players he has signed, anyroad).

I'm sure Lambert was delighted to be alongside shay, the man who he's presumably ignored for 18 month's

There are buses that go to York? Why?

Suspended for?  How does that help matters?   Sack them if they are in breach of contract.
It has to be investigated. No doubt sack will follow in due course.

This is the end for PL no way he will continue beyond this season. The decision allegedly from RL and PL is just an add on for his self respect. No manager could overcome this he will be done by the end of the season at the latest one way or the other...

I doubt the club want to face another claim for constructive dismissal. I see no thinly veiled Machiavellian plot here, which is why I am so interested in knowing just how badly they have messed up to warrant being suspended and Lambert being delighted about Sid and Shay replacing them.

why would he be delighted to being joined by a man he wanted out of the club and a coach his creatures were at constant loggerheads with?

Agreed, Lambert's comments suggest he is comfortable with the decision.
