Oh dear!!!!!

Terrible camera work.

Oh I don't know, that 20 second clip of the roof was better than the game itself.

Injuries are a valid reason for lack of progress this season.

Three players Lambert has spent the most money on: Benteke, Kozak, Okore. That's about half of his total spend. Two of them were out for a season and the other struggled for form when he returned from injury.

I'm surprised people think it's a load of bollocks that he might have tried to sign other players and the deals couldn't be done. Seems very likely to me. Looks like he might have been trying to loan players like Barry and Lukaku, but we couldn't even muster an agreeable half-wage with their clubs.

There's not much difference in the quality of the bottom 12 teams in this league. We are spending an amount which puts us somewhere in this group of crap teams who are unlikely to win anything or make any progress. We have young players, many who are not good enough to play for a team in the top half of the Premier League. They are going to be inconsistent which is why after beating Chelsea we've lost four on the trot.

I'd like the manager to be able to galvanise his players to prevent such a run. It looks like they thought we were safe after beating Chelsea and going 1-0 up against Stoke and switched off for the summer. I think a lot of fans thought we were safe, too.

The home form has been pathetic too, something the manager should be doing something to improve, but even though it has been record-breakingly bad this season, it wasn't much better under McLeish, Houillier, or O'Neill relative to the money he had to spend.

We will get a few more points this season. We won't be relegated, and Lambert will still be our manager next season.

I absolutely agree , Bob and add N.Zogbia to that list of missing players  , he is a player that would have added some much needed nous , not to mention skill to our play . We will beat Southampton this week , especially if the fans give  the same morale boosting support  that the Palace fans gave to lift their team . Lets not forget that  they  ( Palace ) beat Chelski in their previous game and are on a good run right now under a Manager who has the ability to lift his teams , albeit in the short term .   Keep the Faith ...........Godzvilla !

Did Lambert really say in an interview last week that Villa fans were unrealistic in what they want to achieve?

I was told this second-hand and haven't seen it anywhere.

Not in those words
“The history and expectancy is there, but there has to be that realism that this is where it is at the minute,” said Lambert.

“There’s a lot of stuff people don’t see. Am I happy where we are? No. Did I come to Aston Villa to do this? No.

“This club should be higher, there is no two ways about it. It has great tradition and great pedigree.

“I knew the first few years would be really hard because of what we had to do. I knew that, but we have to get this club
up there.

“I’m certainly not sitting here thinking it’s good. We have to do everything we can to get this club up the ladder. It has to be.”

If N'Zogbia were fit, does anyone really think he wouldn't be in the bomb squad like all the other high earners?

The club is a mismanaged mess from top to bottom.

Nor me. The headline said Lambert tells fans to take a reality check, when he didn't actually say that at all.

Thanks.

Not as bad as I was lead to expect, but my view that we should be mid-table and not staring up the backside of Stoke etc. shouldn't be challenged as unrealistic.

"The first few years"?  How long does he think he's got?

Nor me - I think most of us would be happy with progress but I can't see how anyone could suggest that so far this season has seen progress.

The football for the most part has been dire - the team look clueless.

Lambert has stayed that N'Zogbia is not with the Bomb Squad, although not necessarily in those words. It was in Friday's B'ham Mail.

Did out performances go to pot as soon as the deals were mooted for him and Gabby?

At least it's not the same drivel he's been repeating for the past 6 months. I have no doubt he means well, I have every doubt that he is capable of getting us to where he wants.
