The games I've watched this season - wba, norwich, Cardiff (home) - we were poor despite taking points.

Lambert can bleat but his tactics are regressing.  5 defenders against Cameron Jerome sums it up

That isn't how we set up though. Both full backs were pushed on, so it was 3 at the back. Given that they play a very direct game and we have a generally small side getting the additional height in the side wasn't a bad idea. It was further forward we had the problem, we couldn't keep the ball so they were able to just keep launching it back at us.

It will come to a head next Saturday. The fans are at breaking point, there are leaks about coaching bust ups and a crack in the manger's relationship with the board and the press smell blood. They are using the comparison between Hughton and Lambert's records as the case for the prosecution. Apart from it being a valid point I also think it is because they like the bloke who got the sack better than the bloke who still has a job.

I have to laugh at the media who have slaughtered Tim Sherwood at Spurs, to the point where the Tottenham fans seem to agree.

Yet, however average they may be, those players still play for him and he looks totally dedicated to their cause, whatever his fate in the Summer.

Lambert is just a dead man walking. Shame, I thought he was as good as were going to get 2 years ago but it just ain't working out.

Sherwood has won 10 of his last 16 games, I'm surprised at the stick he's getting aswell.

Sack him. Cowans in to try and inspire one win in the remaining games, which would be enough to stay up.

The only problem with that is there might be players who would feel a sense of loyalty to Lambert. Would we get the best out of them over the last few games? probably also knowing that they might be out of the door too?

I'm sure Sid would have his backers in the squad (Gabby, Fabian, Weimann, Albrighton, Baker) but the rest I'm not so sure.

I was at Palace yesterday. The team were set up, simply void of ideas. Nothing going creatively. We're massively short of confidence, and that was again apparent yesterday.

The football on display, has been nothing short of shocking, and as a result of this Lambert's position looks doomed.

The board though are the issue. We can chop and change our managers all we like but we're always going to be in this position whilst we lack investment.

Yes, the football has been shocking. I may be blinkered but part of me, wants to stick with Lambert and give him the appropriate backing in the transfer market.

If things don't improve by next season, and he has been backed - then look at changing things then.

He's the manager than just shy of two years ago the majority of people wanted. He's not been given the adequate tools to do the job. I'm also arguing the fact that whoever we get in will face the same issues under the current board.

but he has been given the tools to do the job - he knew from the day he was interviewed that certain constraints would be placed upon him. Just face up to the fact that he's not going to hack it. Why waste yet more limited resource on him when its clear that irrespective of how much or how little he spends on a player, he can't manage them i.e. lead, motivate enthuse, inform, nuture etc. etc. Talk about flogging a dead horse. He's had his moment in the sun and it hasn't worked.

do give it a rest. Some people wanted to give him time to get things right and weren't morbidly depressed like you. Just because it hasn't worked out does't mean you need to wave flags and put up the bunting. It means that as a club we've failed and no Villa fan irrespective of your position on the manager should be happy about.

I respect your opinion Holte L2, but my opinion is he not capable of managing at this level. Compare him to Pulis, who has turned Palace around in half a season. I have not seen Palace splashing the cash,Pulis has just been able to make Palace hard to beat by playing to their strengths People may not like the way Pulis teams play, but how many of us like the way Villa play under Lambert

The other significant issue missed by the Lambert must get more time faction is that we have no proof that he has been denied anything.   The scenario that he has been on his bended knees begging for funds to pay Barry, Lukaku and the rest and told to do one might equally have been a scenario of trying to shore up his position with the board, with one eye on what has actually come to pass, when he can either keep his job or maximize his compensation by doffing his cap and saying that he can keep us up with what he has got.   Playing the victim could yield him better rewards in the long run than banging the table.

I understand where you're coming from. I agree, the standard of football has been complete and utter shite. Pullis is a different fit. Palace would have been right for him. We wouldn't have taken to the Pullis brand of football. In your opinion, if we sack Lambert today, given the financial restrictions the board have placed, who do we appoint?
What's not to say, that the severity of the restrictions wasn't explained to Lambert prior to his appointment?
