While it's 0-0 Lambert will do nothing even if we are being outplayed. It's always the other manager looking for the win.

Villa have used the lowest number of substitutes in the PL this season.

The rumours about Lambert's transfer frustration may be true. However, this does not excuse some of the shocking displays this season - while our squad is not great, the players do not do the basic things in many games (i.e. Passing the ball to team mates etc) and this points to poor coaching and management. We've looked clueless in too many games this season to suggest that Lambert can get these lot organised properly.

I believe what Charlie Nicholas said and Lambert is now hinting at his frustration. I understand his frustration but he knew the rules from the start and signed up for it. And he hasn't done very well.

How many times though?  I thought we were outstanding for 45 mins against Liverpool and that was it for me. Didn't see Chelsea admittedly.  Been v lucky in a lot of games I think

If what Charlie Nicholas said yesterday is true ir probably doesn't matter who is manager. In fact, they might as well do without one completely for all the difference it seems to make.

What was that?

"I have it on very good authority from a mutual friend of ours, that Paul has been exceptionally close to deals for Barry, Lukaku, Sissoko, Holtby and Coutinho, only to have them fail at boardroom level".

It's bullshit. He's come out in his own words and categorically denied being in for some of those players. Lambert is in self preservation mode now.

Odd comments here. Rumours there. Lowering amounts of fees for players. He's going to try and make himself look better than he is from now on until the chop.

What so Lambert told Charlie Nicolas to make those comments?  How does that work?

I didn't say that did I.

A handful. How many games have we been shocking? 15-20?

Couldn't Lambert have found some players between Barry/Lukaku and Sylla/Holt on the scale of wages and ability? Plan A is highly sought after internationals and plan b is bottom of the reject bin?

I can accept that Lambert might have been priced out of his main targets but other managers have done better with less.  I refuse to accept he couldn't have signed a decent creative midfielder with the Kozak money for example.

Rode our luck a bit against Arsenal but we were great on the counter attack. Excellent at Stamford Bridge and the home return, brilliant first half against Liverpool, Sunderland away I thought we were good and did well to come back in both Albion derbies. Obviously, we haven't done it enough though.

I've always thought the lack of substitutions was a lack of options on the bench.

Chasing a game? Bring Albrighton on.

And if Albrighton started the game, bring a striker on.

I know they're his signings but honestly are we complaining that the likes of

Tonev Sylla Bennett Bowery haven't been seen more often?

I think they don't start games, for the exact same reason Lambert is reluctant to bring them on.

He has to go for a number of reasons but for me one of the most valid is his total inability to learn from his mistakes. To lose so many times to the same teams twice in a season suggests he and his staff are not capable of working out the oppositions strengths and weaknesses, the best example Crystal Palace - I don't need to have watched yesterday to imagine it was a re run of Boxing Day, that is a poor game which should have ended goalless but was thrown away by one team showing no ambition while the other stepped up a gear, made a few adjustments and finally went for the jugular.

Yep. I thought that as soon as I read the Mail article. It 's bad but not my fault

So if things were going badly where you work you'd be glad to hold your hands up and carry the can 100%.  Or would you try to stick up for yourself a bit.  Saying it's not ALL my fault does not equal bullshit. Funny how we're so ready to accuse managers of ducking blame and being 'deluded' while the same people remain behind the scenes.

Arsenal away, Liverpool away (first half), Chelsea away. Played well in a handful of other games, but that's about it. All the rest we've been pretty woeful.

Any team can have a good spell in a game. How often do we play well for all of or the majority of the game? Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Norwich, Chelsea. Five good performances out of thirty five league and cup games.

He's spent the last 20 months or so telling us just how great the board have been, randy, the ceo, everyone working behind the scenes. Now he's trying to tell us otherwise.

The shit is hitting the fan now and he's looking to apportion some blame, fair enough. It also makes him a bullshitter and insincere though, because he's spent so long telling us otherwise.

The board are clowns but they have no input on a football team that stand like statues and constantly hoof the ball.

He is out of his depth. We ARE a big club, he hasn't faced anything like this before and it's found him out.
