One thing Lambert has done well is cultivate a victim compex.  It's always someone else's fault and everyone else is out to get him.

And then nicked Gareth Southgate from them and turned him from being a useless holding midfielder into an England centre back.

For the very first time I think he will be sacked at the end of the season.

His loss rate in the league is also probably higher than many of the other worse managers we've had. He's a game away from a 50% loss rate in the league this season, and his overall average over two seasons isn't too far off. It's pathetic. His low win rate only tells some of the story, he doesn't draw too many either. 7 this season, 11 the year before. We didn't lose quite as many under McLeish, and drew a lot of games, but of course we hardly won games under him once Bent got injured.
Saying that, we're at a stage now where we're that bad at the moment that we could almost do with McLeish's ability to grind out a draw here and there, just to cross over the line. Lambert's lost the plot completely.

Whatever way you look at it though, it's well below what you'd expect at this club and he has to go.

Lerner would be a fool to sack him this close to the end of the season. His coaching staff would have to go as well. The minute after the final whistle of the final game Mr Lambert can go back to Scotland as quickly as he likes, and we can start the recruiting process yet again.

I'm not so sure,
if he's going at the end of the season anyway we might as well say goodbye now

There is something very wrong going on behind the scenes, Lambett clearly hast got the ability to get much more out of them or motivate the players
So I reckon a stand in temp manager for the remaining 4 games could possibly have more chance of getting the couple of points we need

The away support turned today.

About time too.

They did indeed, me included, and it is indeed about time. Long overdue in fact.

What happened?

This frightens me almost as much as keeping Lambert does. First there's the inevitable farce of the selection process. Then there's the appointment itself. The truth is, few managers of repute would wish to work under the current financial restraints. I'm concerned it's going to be another fingers-crossed type appointment until things change at board level.

he won't. He'll be fired a day or two after the season has ended much like McLeish was.

I've always tried to look on the bright side where Lerner's concerned. But I do wonder sometimes why he still owns the club.

He seems to have tacitly accepted that the priority is simply to avoid relegation, without aspiring to anything more.
He's never around anyway.
It's not making him any money.

So what's he getting out of it? Answers on a postcard...

I think he'll keep him on.

He's doing what he wants, doing it on the cheap - just about.

The owner has no ambition beyond us breaking even these days. Proud History, Bright Future. Four words you don't hear too often these daysl

Nothing! And that's why he's preparing to sell us.
